J. W. Short
Center
By hard and consistent work J. W. won him a job at center. He
was very good at remembering signals and could be depended upon to
pass the ball to the right man. On the defense he backed the line
in a very creditable manner both for himself and for his school. Very
unfortunately he injured his back toward the end of the season and
was not allowed to share in the "Thanksgiving Glory." Short will
be back next year and there is no doubt in the minds of those who
know, but that he will be a star next year.
Roy Boone
End
"Wart" Boone was one of the hardest working
men *jn the team as well as the best natured.
"Wart" was a sure and hard tackler.
because of his ability along this line, he caused
many a plunging back to try the other side
of the line. "Wart" was quick in sizing up a
play and he went in with his usual grit and
determination which seldom failed to bring
the desired results. On the defense "Wart"
usually backed up the line and did it in such
a manner as to reflect nothing but good upon
himself. As long as "Wart was on the side
lines coach Perry felt no uneasiness about a
new end or back-field man. Boone played in
a majority of the games, winning his "B", and
proving that he was a "Wart" and an extreme.ly
hard "Wart" to git rid of or around.
Charlie Perry
Center
"Shipwreck," was not very fat but he was mighty tall and believe
us all he sure plays football. He suffered from an injured knee
most of the season, but the grit that comes on making a D. B. C.
team overcame his injuries. "Shipwreck" could always be depended
on to do his part anytime, anywhere. He will be back next year if
he doesn't take oratory at San Saba.Eighty-two
