M FFA DISTRICT AWARD BANQUET
Local students earn recognition
Several Albany High School
FFA teams and individuals,
along with a local adult volun-
teer, were recognized at the Oil
Belt District Awards Banquet
held December 8 in Brecken-
ridge, according to FFA sponsor
Chris Beard.
The local chapter was one of
four schools in the 22-school dis-
trict awarded a Golden Horizon
chapter rating, and one of three
named as a Superior Chapter.
Debra Boyett of Albany, along
with three other volunteers from
around the district, were recog-
nized for their contributions to
FFA and agricultural programs.
"Debra was given a lifetime
Honorary Lone Star Non-
Teacher Award for her hard work
and dedication to the youth of
the Shackelford County Stock
Show," explained Beard. "She
puts in a lot of time coordinating
the concession for the fall pig
sale and during the stock show
itself. She helps students at the
county and major stock shows
and she is very deserving of this
award."
Former Albany resident Cody
Leech, who is now on the faculty
at Seymour, received the Hon-
orary Lone Star Teacher Award.
AHS student Casee Halbert
is currently serving as Oil Belt
District Sentinel and helped
with the banquet program, in-
cluding giving the invocation and
announcing the spring CDE
awards and the Lone Star De-
gree winners.
"Casee has worked hard and
has done a great job represent-
ing the Oil Belt District, as well
