daughter, Martha Elizabeth Mims,
to Joe Loyd Echols, son of Mrs.
Jim Echols of Throckmorton, on
July 28 in the First Baptist
Church at Elbert. Rev. Lewis C.
Price, pastor of the church, per-
formed the ceremony at 5:30 p.
m.

The Albany Lioness Club met
Wednesday, July 26, at the Here-
ford Steak House. Mrs. W. L.
Hayes, the new president, presid-
ed for the business meeting. Mrs.
Raymond Taylor was appointed
parliamentarian to succeed Mis.
Mark Priffis, who moved to Cole-
man rerently.
Members present were Mmes.

Hugh Ayres, Raymond Taylor,

day in Albany visiting their par-
ents, Mrs. T. A. Deats and Mr.
and Mrs. A. W. Reynolds.
Mrs. C. F. Robinson left Fri-
day for Midland, where she is
visiting her daughter, Mrs.
Charles It. Coston, and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Warren Cauble
and son, Ross, and Mrs. Allee
Cauble returned to Albany Mon-
day from a 10-day vaention trip
to Colorado. The Warren Cau-
bles stopped in Chama, N. M., for
a short visit with Mr. and Mrs.
Paul Thomas.

Sam Webb took Mrt. Webb,
lohn Wallace and Carol Maye, to
Mexia last week-end to spend two
weeks with Mrs. Webb's mother,
Mrs. John Focke. They were ac-
ompanied as far as Waco by
Mrs. Lydia Webb, who spent the
week-end with Mrs. Joe Ward,
and returned to Albany with Mr.
Webb Sunday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Grady King of
Fort Worth spent the week-end
in Albany visiting Mr. and Mrs.
I!. C. Harris and friends. Mr.
and Mrs. Fred Smith of Hamlin
took the Kings home with them
Saturday night for a visit in their
home and brought them hark to
Albany Sunday afternoon, and
nil were guests in the R. C. Harris
home. They all attended the

Wedding Saturday
Mrs. Jenice Wagley and Bill
Stegall were united in marriage
in a single ling ceremony at the
home of the bride's parent*, Mr.
and Mrs. C. W. Harper, Saturday
evening, Aug. 5, with Rev. A. L.
Teaff, pastor of the First Baptist
Church, officiating.
Mrs. A. L. Teaff was pianist.
The bridegroom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Stegall of
Waco.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a light blue lace
suit with black patent shoes and
carried white carnations on a
white Bible.
Miss Theresa Noles of Clyde,
maid of honor, wore a beige cot-
ton dress with white carnation
corsage.
Charlie Stegall of Clyde, broth-
er of the groom, was best man.
A reception was held in the
home following the ceremony.
Members of the house party were
Mrs. Edward Wheeler of Abi-
lene, sister of the bride, who reg-
istered guests; Mrs. Cecil Harper,
Jr., of Moran, sister-in-law of the
bride, and Theresa Noles of Clyde
served the guests.
After a wedding trip to San
Antonio the couple will be at
home in Moran.
The bridegroom is employed by
George King of Albany and the
bride is employed by West Texas
Utilities Co. in Moran.
Week-end guests of Mr. and
Mrs. E. W. Morris were their son,
Pete Morris, Mrs. Morris and chil-
dren of McKinney. Sunday
guests in the Morris home were

Mr. and Mrt. W. M. Freeman
visited Mrs. Freeman's filter,
Mrs. W. H. Reno, in Midland and
Mr and Mrs. M. M. Ricks and

colm Hicks, Jr., came home with
his grandparents for n visit.

Clyde, who are both ill.

the Eastland hospital, where she

STAZS Foe KEY CITY CLUB
According to a report in the
Abilene Reporter-News, Malcolm
Ricks drove in two runs in the
sixth inning as the Thornton Reb-
els defeated the Gorbett Tanker*,
8-6, Monday night for the cham-
pionship of the Key City Little
League. Thornton and Gorbetts
had divided the first and second
half titles and Monday's one-
game playoff decided the league
championship.
Malcolm Ricks, Jr., is the
grandson of Mr. and Mrs. W. M.
Freeman of Moran.
BAND MEMBERS AND
PARENTS TO MEET
There will be a meeting of all
prospective Moran band members
and their parent* ia the school
lunch room on Monday, Aug. 16,
at 7:30 p. m., it was announced
by J. G. t reeman, superintendent,
and Raymond Evans, band direc-
tor. All students and their par-
ent* are reminded of the extreme
importance of this meeting, and
that it Is imperative that each of
them be present.
Band rehearsals will begin
Tuesday morning.

North Texas Marine Platoon were
approved by the 8th Marine Corps
Reserve and Recruitment District
this week and a full acale recruit-
ing program i* now underway.
In an effort to keep the platoon
a* personalized as possible, it will
be made op of separate squads.
The squad* will be recruited in
the areas where Marine recruit-
ing substation* are now operat-
ing. This

though the entire platoon will h*
made up of Texans, it will M
further localised to the point of
having home town huddles smt
together in the same IS-man
squad.
The North Texas Marino Pla-
toon is the ilrst such unit to ha
recruited under the now plan of
national defense. Though pla-
toon recruiting was quite popular
several years ago, it ha* not been
done recently and special instruc-
tions were needed from Head-
quarters, Marine Corps, and th*
8th District before this unit could
