Methods of Admission
1. By Graduation from Affiliated High School. Applicants
under 21 years of age must have been graduated from an affiliated
high school with fifteen (15) affiliated units (eleven of
which are prescribed, as explained in a later paragraph), or by
examination.
(1) If the applicant is a graduate of an affiliated high school,
and his certificate shows the proper fifteen affiliated units, the
scholastic requirements are thereby satisfied.
(2) If the applicant is a graduate of an affiliated high school,
and his certificate shows less than fifteen affiliated units, he
must make up the difference by entrance examinations.
Students who are interested in surplus admission units are referred
to Dean Olsen, of the college of Arts and Sciences.
2. By Examination. If the applicant is not a graduate of an
affiliated high school, he must take entrance examinations in
fifteen units.
The affiliation of high schools in Texas is determined by a
bulletin issued annually by the State Department of Education.
Entrance examinations will be given at Simmons University
as scheduled in the Academic Calendar on page 3 of this catalog.
College entrance examinations conducted by the State Department
of Education are recognized.
PRESCRIBED UNITS. Of the 15 units required for admission, the
following are prescribed:

The other four units may be elected from the list of subjects
accepted by the State Department of Education. Not more than
3 vocational units may be submitted.
3. By State Teachers Certificates.
An applicant holding a first grade state teachers' certificate
will receive nine and one-half units: three in English, two in
