Several are on the sick list at
this place, and the following are
in the hospital at Seymour W.
R. Cowart, Mrs. C. W Cunning-
ham, R. E. Massey, Mrs. Harry
Austin and Jim Parker. R. E
Massey, just completing his boot
training in the navy, was on his
way home to see his parents when
he became ill, and was placed in
the hospital here upon his arrival.
Several servicemen have been
visiting relatives and friends. Sgt.
George Burkhalter has been here
from Ohio, S 2/c Lewis Baldwin
and his wife are here, together
with S 2/c Charles Hatter. Em-
ory Hardin, who has been in the
European theatre of war, is home
visiting his relatives at Vera and
Red Springs.
Miss Maribell Harris from Fort
Worth has been visiting her fath-
er, C. B. Harris.
BUI Johnson and family, who
had moved to Holliday, have now
moved back into the Red Springs
community and are living on the
L. B. Crowell place. Everyone is
glad to have them with us again.
The Crowells have moved to Sey-
mour.
Mrs, Annie Parker is home a-
gain after spending several days
with her husband, Cpl. M. A.
Parker, at Mac-Dill Field, Fla.
Floyd Hurd and his wife came
in from California to visit their
parents. Floyd has been working
in the shipyards in California.
Evelyn Compton enrolled this
week at Abilene Christian Col-
lege. Mrs. Johnny Crump accom-
panied her to Abilene, and will
visit with Dorthory Crump, who
also attends A. C. C.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Walsh have
moved into the Nichols home in
Red Springs.
Mrs. Joe Porter returned home
this week after an extended visit
with relatives ayd friends in Com-
anche County.
Mrs, Virginia Storm and Jean-
ie, Mrs. Cowart. and Mrs. Glenn
Plummer and Terry went to Waco
to visit relatives Whlli there
Mrs. Plummer will also visit with
her husband, who is stationed at
Camp Hood, Texas.
Mr. and Mrs. Weaver Howard
and daughter of Flagstaff, Ariz.,
were here last week visiting Mr.
and Mrs. Joe Nichols.
Mrs. Paula Kisinger has resign-
ed as principal of the Red Springs
School. Mrs. Tom Russell (if Ve-
1a has been employed to fill her
place.
The community is glad to have
Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Benge and
family of Salinias, Calif , buck at
this place again.
A new store has opened at Red
Springs. A. F. Minton has opened
a grocery store here.
Mr. and Mrs. ,J. V. Cockerell of
Santa Rosa, N. M , have been vis-
iting the letter's mother. Mrs. A.
Tucker.
Mr. and Mrs. Olan Smith of
Santa Monica, Calif., are visiting
the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
A. E. Smith
A "42" party was held Tuesday
night at the Red Springs school
house The proceeds went to the
Infantile Paralysis Fund,
Mrs. L. J. Barker and Lindu
from Pampa are visiting Mr. and
Mrs. Carl Kisinger and family this
week, <Mrs. Kislnger's daughter
pinch hit for her this week with
the news letter. Mrs. Kisinger is
still in bed with a broken limb).
Misses Marie Patterson and Mil-
dred Gordon are working in Wich-
ita Falls. The girls are staying
in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lynn
Gordon.
Mr. and Mrs. Terry Roberson of
Rochester visited Mr. and Mrs,
Mrs. Ogle Roberson last week, and
then all of them went to Gaines-
ville to see the Terry Roberson's
son, who is in the army camp
there.
Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Gray and
children were over from Wichita
Falls Monday and the former was
in to renew their Banner. Mr.
Gray was going out to their farm
to see his 130 acres of wheat,
which he had not seen in five
weeks. Herbert sowed all the
cultivated land on the place, and
then decided he would help out
some on the manpower shortage,
so moved to Wichita Falls to work
until harvest time. He Is driving
a bus.
