Mr S A IijiiNcy sccrctnry of the
rederal Land Bank of Houston says
Of the Oil applications for loans

Texas the per cent was better than
in the Black Band Belt though not so
good a < that of 13nst Texas
Tin importance of this drivo will
be ipiiimutiil when wc remember the
rapid and I might sny nbnormnl growth
oi t < nam of Texas as shown by the
Agricultural Bulletin for Texas Thirteenth
oisus of the United States
Panns operated by owners year 18 0
IOS fi by tenants J40S Ycnr 1800
bv owners 112010 by tenants oV > 10
Year 1P0O by owners 177100 by tenants
174001 Year 1010 by owner
UljSG3j by tenants 2111575
These figures show that in tho last
thirty years the proportion of tenants
in Texas has incroised from 170 percent
of all fnrms in 1830 to 320 percent
In 1010 In these thirty years
farm owners have increased at the rato
of a little less than 1000 a year while
tenants have increased at the rate of a
little over 5000 per year I believe
that wc should mako every effort to
reduce the per cent of tenants to farm
owners in this state at least to the
average proportion of tenants to farm
owners of the United States which
is 117 per cent
The llcrnld n glad to unite with our
Federal nflicials and with our County
oflicials In bringing his matter to the
attention of all and thereby increasing
the benefits of the 1edcral Land Bank
The question of making a tenant a
home owner is of vital and public good
and we belicc Mr Iind ey s desire to
reduce tenancy will be aceonpliidicd
when our people more fully understand
the excellencies of tho plan offered by
the Federal lnml Bank Mr Hutchison
or any other olllccr or member of the
Tulln Association will gladly furnish
all information In their power when
called on by any one Interested
