In addition to building temporary
office building at the dam
site workmen have built a temporary
dam across the stream bed
just above the dam site to insure
a supply of water needed in con
structlng the spillways and other
concrete work
Work has already started to
ward grading nd erecting the
spillways and it is reported that
dirt work on the dam will begin
some time next Aveok
Sufficient trucks and operators
have signed up to insure a sufficient
force probably using as
many as 25 trucks at the peak of
construction
More than 40 laborers are available

on the west side of the square

Vigo Park Revival
Closed Last Week
The Methodist Revival meeting
which had been going on at Vigo
Park for n week closed Sunday
night Sept 10 Rev J O Haymcs
the presiding elder of the Amaj
rillo district delivered the mes
sages in a very inspiring way
All services were well attended
and the community was greatly
blessed
This meeting made the fifth
revival that Rev C A Holcomb
the pastor of the Vigo Park cir
cuit has held on his charge this
year He has done a great work
on this charge the last two years
Ho has worked flathfully in each
community and has helped to better
them In more ways than one
The people in each community
should show their appreciation to
him by attending church and Sunday
School each Sunday

Frank Kellogg has purchased
the old Club Cafe and has re
modeled it from front to rear
New and attractive tables and
scats have been built and decor
ated in black and white the cafe
colors The counter has been
moved from the cast side to the
rear of the room and this makes
it more convenient for waiters
and results in quicker and more
efficient service
A large neon sign hangs outside
to tell the hungry populace
where they may find good wholesome
food to appease that hunger
The name of the cafe has
been changed to The Elk Cafe
Frank has a ciew of helpers
who are accommodating polite
and efficient Franks friends prev

of the cafe business
Safety Of School
Pupils Stressed
State police voiced warnings
today to parents and others charged
with the of children
safety
to provide for their safe transportation
to and from schools
Safety officials particularly
urged that drivers of vehicles
transporting school children use
caution In discharging their passengers
Never permit them to
alight from automobiles or buses
except at the curb nearest the
school or other destinations they
warned

the recurrences of tragic accidents

The transfer of H R McKee
to the supcrintendency of the
Slaton Division of the Panhandle
Santa Fe Railway was made
effective this week by H B
Lautz vice president and general
manager Superintendent McKee
is a widely known operating
official of mary years service He
has been superintendent of the
New Mexico Division of Santa Fe
Western Lines with headquarters
at Las Vegas McKee succeeds
Superintendent J R Skillen the
latter transferring headquarters
from Slaton to Las Vegas The
Slaton Division is the largest di
vision in point of mileage in the
Southern Division of Santa Fe

Set For November 5
A homecoming occasion more
varied than last years successful
event will be held at West Texas
Suite College Nov 4 5
Homecoming day will be Nov
5 but the ExStudents Associa
tion will direct its annual celebration
on the night club theme
at Cousins Hall on the previous
evening A feature of that evening
however will be the crowning
of an exstudent queen to
reign during the homecoming period
The coronation will be held
in the main college auditorium
about 8 p m during a program
beginning at 730 p m The queen
and her beauty court will then go
to Cousins Hall to open the doors
of an elaborate night club setup
Each county in which some of
the Colleges 20000 exstudents
reside will be allowed one candidate
for queen who must be an
unmarried girl However in counties
of large population an additional
candidate may be entered
from each town of more than
1000 population It is desired that

The home demonstration club
women will hold achievement programs
in the homes of the Home
Food Supply Demonstrator and
Bedroom Demonstrator of the
various clubs during the month
of November
Each club will visit one other
during the month At a recent
meeting of the county council a
representative from each club was
asked to draw to see which club
would be visited
