Tommy Brandon won 10 gallons
i of gas as third place prize in a
Johnson's Wax contest. You know
—"Why I like Johnson's Wax in
25 words or less"—a budding
genius ? ? ?
The girls won another tourna-
ment—they beat Louiee in Van
Vleck — which by the way was
their 20th win in a row! Norma
and Elka are on that all-tourna-
ment team. Coach Renfro's been
telling Sallie she has to work
hard to keep up the good work for
next year. That's something for
all the junior and sophomore play-
ers to think about.
The freshmen and Sharks play-
ed Ganado there Friday night and
our A team lost by only 3 points,
how awful. Both of the other
teams won. The Hornets had to
get up at 5:30 the next morning
for their tournament in Victoria.
Both their games were close. They
beat Patti Welder of Victoria by
four points and lost to Beeville
by the same margin. Grain beat
Beeville 8 points to win the tour-
nament. Guess why the girls yell-
ed "Yea Elvis" when the Palacios
No. 10 scored ? ?!!
We think these boys with their
caps are different, to say the
least. And after you get used to
them they're cute. The caps. . . .
We did get an interview with the
founder (?) of the Road Runners.
Joe says the club is of course just
getting started, so he can't tell
us all. We thought that the most
interesting rule was the one about
t:ekets. Any boy violating any law
and receiving a ticket, must pay
the ticket and pay half that price
to the club to stay in. That ought
to discourage speeding! Joe says
its a hot rod club, but call it an
automobile club, please. So people
won't run it down. It's just a
bunch of boys who love cars. Dues
are $4 a month.
If you're reading this Thursday,
school was out yesterday. We go
back Wednesday, January 2. The
Seniors had their Christmas party
in the band hall, the Juniors in the
gym, and the Sophs in the ca'4e- j
teria. We presume everyone had
fun.
Youth Club News: The Club
wasn't too crowded Saturday
night—due to the tournament.
Everybody's been bringing in the
Christmas tree ornaments—did you
take yours? The posters are all
up in Bay City and Port Lavaca
inviting them to the formal De-
cember 28. Rose wants to thank
everybody for making the posters,
bring the decorations, etc. And she
also says "Merry Christmas" to all
of us. We'd like to thank her and
our board of directors for all their
work, too. We'll see all you kids
at the dance!
We know what Bobbie and Peg
gy want for Christmas—engage-
ment rings just like Barbara's!!
Maybe somebody ought to take up
a collection and buy them some
(Their own idea.)
The Crawfords left Tuesday
afternoon to spend Christmas with
Buddy in Seattle, Washington. Bet
they see some snow, . .
Last week's question and answer:
Q.
A.
Question of the week before
Christmas. Did Santa Claus bring
Coach Koym that new suit he was
wearing Sunday night?
Merry Christmas everybody, and
enjoy the holidays.
The modern Olympic Games
were first held in 1896.
