Veterans News
Q. My daughter draws a VA
pension based on her veteran
father's death. If she works dur-
ing the summer, will her earn-
ing affect her pension?
A. No. Under current pension
law, earned income of a child
is not countable in determining
pension entitlement.
Q. I keep reading and hearing
that Warld War II veterans re-
ceived full tuition and $85 a
month. This true?
A. World War II veterans re-
ceived up to $500 for tuition,
books and supplies for a full
school year. All above that they
had to pay themselves. The sin-
gle full time veteran student did
receive $75 per month, but he
was restricted to a maximum
wage earnings of $210 a month,
including the $/5 GI bill entitle-
ment.
Q. Is It true that VA is plan-
ning to close some of its hos-
pitals?
A. VA has no plans to close
any of Its hospitals. In fact,
several new ones were opened
last year and more are under
construction this year.
CARD OF THANKS
I feel so indebted to so many
people. May I take this means
to express my appreciation to
every one who did so much for
me while I was in the hospital
both In Albany and Abilene. My
thanks to the doctors and nurses
who were kind beyond their line
of duty, for all the cards and
phone calls and flowers.
Mrs. C. K. Hbsli.
