WICHITA FAIJ.S.—Birds haxe
to have a home site, even kill-
deer.
This rickity rack, feathered
jitterbug with the continually
jerking head and flicking tail,
proved that here.
Morris Stallcup, district chief
for the Texas Parks and Wild-
life Department, said one has
nested on a pile of waste con-
crete on a vacant lot.
This is the third time the her-
ky-jerky birds that apparently
modeled the frug and other
modern calisthenics have folded
their long legs over a nestful of
eggs on the scratchy surface.
Stallcup suggested the odd-
ball nesting habits may be one
reason the silly birds are main-
ly known by their s+rill "kill
deer, kill deer" call.
After all, sitting on such a
craggy surface for any length
of time might provoke a rash
threat, yes, even to a deer, he
mused.
