suggestion met with approval, and
the matter was referred to the en-
tertainment comnfittee.
A report of the financial stand-
ing of the Club had been printed
and was passed around to the
members. This showed the total
receipts and expenditures, together
with a substantial balance left in
the bank. President Farr express-
ed thanks to the directors and
others who have co-operated in so
fine a way to make the club suc-
cessful the past year.
Menrtiers attending were, W. B.
Flewharty, Johnny Martin, J. T.
Martin, Travis Martin, Morris
Cockrell, Lawrence Harmel, H. F.
Harmel, Lindley Carter, Jess Hark-
ness, D. D. Moorhouse, Jim Mor-
ris, W. G. Moss, Bill Goode, Jack
Drew, Rufus Whitley, Whit White-
side, J. O. Cure, Lowell Cure.
Chas. Richmond, Bill Brookreson,
Bob Farr, Roy Quisenberry, Jr.,
Whit Hale, O. C. Harrison and
Ralph Howe.
At nine o'clock Wednesday morn-
ing there was held the first meet-
ing of the directors, at which time
a number of matters of business
were taken up. In the election of
officers, the following were chosen:
Bill Goode, president; Whit Hale,
vice president; Lowell Cure, secre-
tary and treasurer.
The following committees were
appointed;
Grounds and greens: Morris
Cockrell chairman. C. F. Rich-
mond, Lee Morris, O. C. Harrison,
James Dickson and Lindley Carter.
Entertainment: Whit Hale, chair- I
man.
Tournament: Chas. Richmond
chairman.
House: Bob Farr, chairman.
Building and Maintenance: Law- j
rence Haimel, chairman.
It was voted to rebuild the fence
separating the club from the high-!
way, and a committee was appoint- J
ed to superintend that work.
Also voted was the provision that
members in the military service
will not be assessed for dues, so
long as they are in the service. j
In the future, associate members
will be assessed for dues quarterly, I
and at the same time that the
members are drawn upon for their
dues.
In connection with meeting of
the golf and country club, it might
be interesting to give a list of the
charter members, who are still
members and have paid dues since
the organization of the club in
1924. These are: Joe A. Wheat, j
Ollie Newton, Frank Davis, Fos-
ter Bunkley, Morris Randal, Stone
Knox, Whit Whiteside, Lloyd
Jones, Tom Craddock and Ed Mur-
phy. Most of these men are not reg-
ular golf players, and some have
played hardly at all; but through
the years they have kept up their
dues, believing that the club is
an asset to the community.
