Duncanville Data I Work Begins
Mrs. Eula Morris has a lovely
new blue worsted tweed suit that
came all the way from Nagoya,
Japan, from her son, Capt. Tom
H. Morris, an Air Force pilot. She
sent the measurements to him, and
he had it tailored for her. When it
arrived in Monday morning's mail,
the only thing she was worried
about was whether the measure-
ments she and her daughter, Mrs.
Mattie Rae Fouts, had sent were
correct. But the suit is a perfect
fit, Mrs. Morris reports.
David Hindman has been home
on leave from the Navy following
completion of boot training in
California.
Mr. and Mrs. W. O. Murphy and
son, Johnny, of Fort Worth, visited
Maggie and Marcus Munden Sun-
day.
James Barker, son of Mrs. Ethel
Barker, has been quite sick this
past month.

DUNCANVILLE
On Sewer Line
DUNCANVILLE -
Work is slated to begin this week
on extension of the sewer line be-
tween Duncanville Road and Ave-
nue C, according to E. H. Moss of
Cullum Construction Co., Inc. of
Dallas.
Mr. Moss estimates that the work
will take only four or five days.
The sewer is being extended a dis-
tance of about two blocks at the*
petition of the property owners who
are bearing most of the cost of the
installation. Approximately thirty
lots will receive the new service.
The revised contract was re-
ceived by the construction com-
pany last week, and the tile for
the sewer has already been de-
livered. Total cost of the job has
been set at $2,500 in the contract.

The first was on a 19-yard heave
into the end zone, and the second on
a 36-yard toss, with Bell carrying
across from about the 17-yard line.
For many of the boys, the game
was their final, and it appeared
they wanted it to be one to re-
member.
The Panthers chalked up several
nice runs and threatened on oc-
casion only to be balked by fum-
bles or penalties.
Eight regulars and three reserves
will be lost to the team through
graduation.

pass. Charles Gates intercepted
and ran it back to the Godley ten,
where he was brought down with
only one man between him and the
goal. Cedar Hill had time for only
one more play before the end of the
half, and they were unable to press
their advantage in that play.
The Dogies attempted a punt
from behind their own goal line
in the third. It was fumbled and
then recovered by Lonnie Brown.
He was tackled in the end zone for
a Godley safety. Because of the
safety, Cedar Hill had to kick-off
from their twenty, and Godley
drove down and scored on the next
series of downs giving them a 22-13
lead when they failed to convert.
Godley kicked-off to Cedar Hill
and the CH boys marched sixty
yards. W. J'. Cooper went off-tackle
eight yards to score. Render missed
the extra point and the score was
22-19 at the end of the third.
Again Godley scored, this time
early in the fourth quarter. They
missed on their try for extra point,
leaving the score 28-19. There were
no more serious threats from either
team,
Coach Robinson was not the only
one to miss the game. Ronnie La-
Rue was out with a severly bruised
shoulder. And Jim Render, playing
his last game for the Dogies, was
sick from the third quarter on, and
was out most of the rest of the
game with a stomach up-set. The
Dogies will lose five from the start-
ing line up, including their entire
backfield except their quarter-
back. There will be 26 returning
players.
The seniors really played hard
for their last game, and the whole

speaker, and Miss Tittsworth, one
of the student nurses, accompanied
her.
During the business session,
Glenda Goldman, president of the
Future Nurses, appointed com-

Miss Griffith
Honored With
Bridal Shower
DUNCANVILLE
Miss Martha Griffith, who will
become the bride Saturday of
George A. Huston, was honored
recently with a miscellaneous bri-
dal shower at the Community
House.
Hostesses were Mrs. J. Herman
Reed, Mrs. John Stafford, Mrs. S.
B. Miller, and Mrs. Robbie Higgins.
They were assisted by Mrs. Dolvis
Walker as mistress of ceremonies,
Mrs. T. A. Sheppard, who presided
at the punch bowl; and Mrs. Peggy
Paxton at the guest book.
A highway of life theme was
carried out in the entertainment.
Mrs. Charles Jorden, accom-
panied at the piano by Mrs. Truett
Snider, sang "Always," and "Some
Sunday Morning." Linda Kay
Rogers and Dorothy Irene Hale
sang "Highways are Happy Ways."
They were accompanied by Nancy
Bryant.
A highway of white paper was
made, with a stump and flowers on
it. As the honoree was led down
this highway, she encountered the
tree-stump, representing life's ob-
stacles, and then the flowers, which
depicted the joys of life. At the end
of the road, she entered a doorway
to find the gifts to help her esta-
blish her new home.
A color scheme in the bride's
chosen colors, green and white,
was carried out on the table decora-
tions, with a centerpiece of mums
and ferns.
Approximately 45 guests attended.
irs Enjoy Visit
Of Queen's Guard
CEDAR HILL
The Jimmy Blairs of Cedar Hill
took quite a personal interest in
the recent appearance of the
Queen's Guard at Fair Park. For
the Guard, which is a Scottish
regiment, brought back many
colorful memories of their home-
land.
Two Guards visited in the Blair's
home, and recalled even more
vividly for Mr. Blair the time he
himself spent as a member of the
select Queen's Guard.
Part of the qualifications for
admittance to the group is a height
between six-feet-two inches and six-
feet-four, and weight of six to seven
stones (200 to 220 pounds.)
