1 AN ACT
2 relating to the use of sick leave by state employees who are
3 attending educational activities of their children.
4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
5 SECTION 1. The heading to Section 661.206, Government Code,
6 is amended to read as follows:
7 Sec. 661.206. EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES [PARENT-TEACHER
8 CONFERENCE] : USE OF SICK LEAVE.
9 SECTION 2. Sections 661.206(b), (c), and (d), Government
10 Code, are amended to read as follows:
11 (b) An employee may use up to eight hours of sick leave each
12 fiscal year to attend educational activities of [ p rent--teache
13 -^----encceci--o] the employee's children.
14 (c) An employee shall give reasonable advance notice of the
15 employee's intention to use the sick leave to attend an educational
16 activity [ p%-teachr ] .
17 (d) In this section:
18 (1) "Educational activity" means a school-sponsored
19 activity, including a parent-teacher conference, tutoring, a
20 volunteer program, a field trip, a classroom program, a school
21 committee meeting, an academic competition, and an athletic, music,
22 or theater program.
23 (2) "Employee" has the meaning assigned by Section
24 661.001.
