Paving Highway Nine
Now Progressing
Contractors report progress of
paving Highway No l from Happy
to Tulla as satisfactory having
placed the first course of caliche
about ten miles south of Happy
or about two and a half miles
south of Kaffir
Tlio second course of caliche
has been finished lor a distance of
about three miles beginning at
Happy and working in tlio direction
of Tulia When the second
course has been finished to Katfir
tlio portion of tlio highway from
Kaffir to Happy will be opened
for traffic to tlio public This
should he done within the next
0 days according to information
from Mr Garret of the local high
wny department
Caliche is being obtained from
tlio Maiipin farm south of Kaffir
for the first course When work
reaches tlio halfway distance between
Kaffir and Tulia the caliche
will bo obtained from the J W
Vaughn farm south of Tulia
Mr Garrett estimates that the
job will be finished by August 1
provided there are no unforeseen
delays
Many complimentary remarks
have been made by tourists concerning
the fine road between
Tulia and the Hale county line
and when finished Swisher will
have one of the smoothest pavements
through the county to be
found anywhere
