growth of Tulla and to see familiar
faces of yesteryear but one

could not see the many changes in

He couldnt even walk on familiar
soil for our streets down town anyway

Tills man who came back lost his
eye sight 35 years ago Ho is Mil
am Johnston eldest son of the late
Mr and Mrs J D Johnston
In 1914 he and his faintly left
Tulla in n covered wagon and went
to Arizona He lost his eye sight
while working In > a mine in that
state
The family now lives at 1G7G West
24th street in Los Angeles where he
owns three large apartment houses
He told me to tell all of his friends
to come to see him when they arc
out there and he is very anxious to
attend the next Swisher County
picnic held in California
Though Milam is blind he doesnt
use a seeing eye dog only his cane
and he travels a great deal going
anywhere he wants to go
His sisterinlaw Mrs Lillle Johnston
and his sister Mrs Eunice
Stark of Amarillo brought him to
Tulia one day last week where he
visited a great niece Mrs G B
Foster cast of Tulia and with many
old friends in Tulia
Mrs C M Huckaby of Raton is
a guest in the home of her sister
Mr and Mrs Ewell Grlgg
Mrs Katie Gerloff of Old Glory
mother of Ray Gerloff and Ronnie
Gerloff of Stamford nephew of Ray
Gerloff have been guests in the
home of Mr and Mrs Ray Gerloff
Mr and Mrs Marvin Caglo and
daughter Linda spent the Fourth
of July weekend in Guymon Okla

Mr and Mrs Gordon Pierce of
Louisville Kentucky left Saturday
after a two weeks visit In the homo
of her parents Mr and Mrs I C
Sharp Mrs Pierce is the former

They will move soon to Greens
burg Kentucky where he will be
associated with his father in the
grocery business
Mr and Mrs Rruco Taggard have
returned to their homo in Seattle
Washington after a visit in the home
of Mrs Taggards grandmother
Mrs Sue Ward
L S Simpson suffered a blood
clot last Saturday morning and is
ill at his home 515 North Crosby
His niece Miss Mary McCluncy
RN of Plalnview is here nursing
him
Mr and Mrs Ray Gerloff spent
the week end at Stamford visiting
relatives and attending the rodeo
Mrs John H Warden and small
daughter Alice left Sunday for their
home in Port Arthur after a two
weeks visit in the home of her parents
Mr and Mrs W H Wingo
Mr Warden arrived Friday night
to accompany them home
Mrs W P Danks of Tulsa Okla
has also been a visitor in the homo
of her parents Mr and Mrs Wingo
and left Tuesday morning for her
home
Mr and Mrs H F Sarchct spent
the week end In Amarillo guests In
the home of their son Mr and Mrs
Harold L Sarchct and witnessed the
beautiful fireworks On Sunday they
attended the Furr Food stores pinlc

Mrs Maggie Wells has been moved
from the Swisher County hospital
to the home of Mrs Minnie Curtis
who is taking care of her
Mrs Robert Vick of Duncan
Oklahoma spent ihc Week end visiting
in the homes of Mrs Marjorie
Brewer and Mr and Mrs 0 K
Woodall Mrs Vlck is attending
North West Texas college this summer
where she will receive her degree
at the end of the Summer
term
Dr and Mrs Vick lived in Tulla
several years and have many friends
