Lipscomb County Flag
The Flag
The official Lipscomb County flag, as seen on the cover, was the first place design winner in a county wide
contest sponsored by the Historical Survey Committee. It was officially accepted in September, 1974, by the
commissioner's court. The design was submitted by Mrs. Verda Harper of Follett, and was judged by a committee
from the state Historical Commission in Austin, Texas.
The symbols of a windmill, longhorns and wheat signify our abundance of water and the industries of
farming and ranching. The colors show allegiance to Texas and the United States. Blue signifies sincerity
and unity of county; the gold - honor, loyalty and prosperity; the red - bravery and courage of the pioneers
and present day citizens, and faith in God and the land._
