passed away at her homehere at
1130 Thurday morning following
a series of heart attacks J j
She had been Hi for only aljout
a week
Fannie Florence Mateo teas
born at Garden Grove Iowa
May 11 1875 the daughter o
Mary and Valentine Hawk She
went to Kansas with her parents
when ahe was three years old and
at the age of sevon her mother
passed away followed eleven
years later by her twin sister
Jennie at the age of eighteen
She attended public schoolin
Kansas and on March 9 1899
she was united In marriage to
William O Magee of LongfoVd
Kana T
The family moved to Texas in
Roberts county In 1914 and to
Canadian two years later
Besides her twin sister Mrs
Magee was preceded in death by
two sisters who died In infancy
by an Infant ion Manley another
sister Mrs W I Mtllef j and two
brothers Will Hawk and the Rev
Joe Hawk a Methodist minister
who passed away in 1931 and
who had preached in Canadian
Mrs Magee was a member of
the Methodist church and of the
Pioneer club She was a great
lover of flowers a good wife and
mother and a kind neighbor and
friend One of her hobbles war
helping others and it is not too
much to say that she was loved by
all who knew her
Surviving relatives Include
her husband and two children

gressman from the eighteenth
congressional district subject
to the will of the voters In the
coming election
Until he sold out to his chll
dren last December Mr Burk
operated the Amarlllo Furniture

Co for many years He has been
a Panhandle businessman for
twentythree years and is wide
lyknown In this area
Since announcing himself as
a candidate In the special elec-
tion for the unexpired term of
Congressman Gene Worley and
In the July Democratic primary
for the full twoyear term Mr
Burk has received letters from
friends all over the Panhandle
This is one time the citizens

public office for the paycheck

Mrs C W Hamilton passed
away here at the home of her
daughter Mrs George L Cole-
man Monday afternoon at 1227
oclock after having been an In-
valid for several years
Martha Carson Hamilton was
born In Titus county Texas on
July 41873 the daughter of Mr
and Mrs John Lewis Yancey
She was united In marriage
with Charles Wesley Hamilton
of Bridgeport Tex on Ottooer
27 1889 Mr Hamilton died In
Canadian on March 10 1940
Besides her husband Mrs
Hamilton was preceded in death
by two sons Charles Wesley
Hamilton Jr and Ernest Yan

She had been a resident of
Roberts and Hemphill counties
since 1896 was a member of the
Methodist church the Supreme
Woodman Circle and active In
the missionary society
She was always a good wife
and mother and kind neighbor
and friend
