On 84th Birthday
Funeral services were held at
the First Methodist church In
Hlgglns Feb 15 for Alex Barton
prominent Lipscomb county
rancher whq passed away at
his home in Hlgglns the night
of Feb 13 shortly after falling
down the basement stairs
The last sad iltcs were held
on the aged mans eightyfourth
birthday
The deceased had been a resi
dent of Lipscomb county for the
past sixtyfive years He was
preceded in death by four broth-
ers Henry Will Walter and
Dick all early day settlers of
this section
Survivors include the wife
two sons Alex Jr and J C
three daughters Mrs Roy Linn
of Perryton Mrs J W Douglas
and Mrs A F Robinson of Okla
home City three sisters five
grandchildren three great grand-
children and a host of friends

Mrs A C Haynes of Crowell
Tex passed away Thursday
morning of cancer of the lungs
She was the wife of the Rev
Haynes who was pastor of the
First Methodist church here in
1942
Services were held at Crowell
this Friday afternoon Burial
will be made at Cleburne Sat

Methodist church here wired

Besides her husband and a
host of friends she Is survived
by one son Hugh who Is o
student minister at Southern
Methodist university

arrived here Thursday from
Shamrock and arc staying at
the Allen apartments Mr Skupa
Is reconnaissance man for the
government coast and geodetic
survey doing map control work
Mr Skupa stated that a tri-
angulation party composed of
about thirty men will arrive
here In a month or so The party
Is based at Pampa now and
working In the Shamrock area
The triangulation work must
be done at night to avoid Inter
ference from heat waves and
Mr Skupa Is hoplnx that none
of the men will be taken for
cattle thieves by local ranchers
Mrs W O Rich says her ads

getting results Mr and Mrs

wonderful Sunday dinners at the
City cafe for only one dollar

Funeral services were held at

Morris 86 father of R P Pete
Morris who passed away at a
Pampa hospital Tuesday noon

Plunk says Received the paper
the other day In which was the
article of my accident News
sure gets around I surely was
surprised when we received let-
ters from some of our friend In
Canadian telling me of reading
the account in the paperf
Yes I was very lucky That
was the second accident In lex
than two months A lady tan a
stop sign and crashed Into my
car on the right front fender and
grill causing about 500 00 dam-
age Just had the car fixed up
and looking like new with a new
paint Job when I had to run In
front of a switch engine wliile
on my way rushing over to the
ctrurch to meet with a commit-
tee
By the way who Is this Mr
Jones from Canadian What Is
his address I would like to
meet him Glad to know that he
considers me a good man
