AN ORDINANCE,
Taxing dogs and to prohibit their running
at large.
Be it ordained by the City Council of
the city of Brenham :
Section i. That an annual tax of one
dollar be, and is hereby levied, for the use
of the city, upon each and ever)- dog within
the corporate limits of the same.
Sec. 2. That all owners of dogs be, and
are hereby required to pay said tax to the
assessor and collector ot taxes, who shall
give each person so paying said tax a meta!

neck of the dog upon which the tax is
paid.
Sec. 3. It shall be the duty of the
marshal and police force to destroy
all dogs found running at large in the city
without said tax-plate attached to the
necks, and that the term dog shall include
both male and female. Provided that no
bitch in heat shall be allowed to run at
large, but shall be destroyed if found run-
ning at large.
