pired that three of them were
"wanted" in Dallas.

the Houston jail by some means
got possesion of a case knife.
They made it into a saw and
cut oft the bars of their cage.
The jailor discovered their little
game and put them iu a new set

tion fees, as well as f .r tuition as per above regulation, He will also be pres-

AN ORDINANCE.
TO Provide for the'receipt of subscrip-
tions, and for the erection of a build-
ing for white Public Free Schools ot
the city :
Be it ordained by the City Council of
the city of Brenham :
Sk<;. 1 Whereas, many citizens of
the city of Brenham, have subscribed u
fund for the erection of h building for
the Public Free Schools of the city ;
and whereas, it has become necessary
that tbe fund aforesaid should be cob
lected and applied to the purpose for
which it v as intended that, Messrs
E. Reichardt and Julian MiFarland lw
and are hereby appointed a cou.iriltte#
to receive the said subscription, and to
superintend and supervise the erec-
tion of said building.
Sec. 2. Said committee, before enter
ing upon the discharge oi their dnties
shall execute a good and sufficient
bond, with one or more securities, pay-
able to the city of Brenham in the sura
of fifteen thousand dollars, conditioned1
on the faithful discharge of their du-
ties; as herein set out.
Sec. 3 The said committee are in-
structed and authorized to enter into a
contract in the name of the city with
some suitable person or persons for the
erection of said building, taking bond
from said contractor for the completion
of the same in accordance with the
contract,; provided that said committee
shall not contract to pay for :-aid build-
i"g ft sum exceeding ten thousand
dollars,
SEC. 4. The city hereby pledges
its good faith andt.redit to make good
and pay nnv and all deficiencies rherw
may be in said subscription, by reason
of non-pavinent on part of the subscrib-
ers tosaitl fund.
Sec. 5. This ordinance shall go

after the day of its passage.
