Dear Mrs, Mobley,
I would like to suggest a
person to be honored as your
Citizen of the Week.
She is Mrs. Bernadine El-
liott and she lives at 233
Belt Line Road.
She is always so good to
send cards to shut-ins and
never forgets the elderly or
sick in the community.
We think that she is such a
good person but is never
boastful. She doesn't know
that I'm writing this but you
would certainly make a lot of
people happy if she is select-
ed. We feel that she deserves
the honor.
Mr. & Mrs. Jack
O'Briant, 8910 De-
tonia, Dallas.

What Is
St. Mark Lutheran Church?
It is a church which proclaims Jesus Christ,
the God-man, the only Saviour of mankind«
John 3:16, John 14:6
It is a church which preaches the Bible as
the very Word of God, wholly inspired and
without error,
11 Timothy 3:16, John 10:35, John 17:17
It is a church which is vitally concerned
about the salvation of every person»
1 Timothy 2:4, II Peter 3:9

ST. MARK LUTHERAN
CHURCH
610 N. CEDAR RIDGE RD., DUNCANVILLE
Sunday School, 9:45 a.mc Worship, 11 a0m.
November 5, 1968 general
election. These new Senators
are Senator Ronald Bridges of
„ Corpus Christi, Senator Pete
Snelson of Midland, and Sena-
tor Mike McKool of the six-
teenth District of South and
East Dallas County.
All three of the new Sena-
tors are long time personal
friends, ,and I look forward
to serving with them in the
61st Session, which I believe
can be the most progressive
and historic session of the
Legislature since Texas be-
came a state. Major problems
are facing the Legislature this
year, including upgrading pub-
lic education, crime control
and prevention, highway con-
struction, water and air pollu-
tion control, reclamation and
conservation of our natural
resources, and the proper de-
velopment of our water
resources.
Following the convening of
the Legislature on January 14,
and the swearing in of the new
members and re-elected
members of the Senate, the
Legislature, both the House
and the Senate, met in joint
session to hear the "farewell
address" from Governor Con-
nally on January 15.
The new Governor of Texas,
Preston Smith, and new Lieu-
tenant Governor, Ben Barnes,
were both inaugurated on
Tuesday, January 21, 1969, at
high noon on the steps of the
Capitol in Austin. It was a
most impressive event. Both
Governor Smith and Lieute-
nant Governor Barnes de-
livered stirring and states-
manlike messages to the peo-
ple of Texas. It is my sin-
cere hope that during this
session of the Legislature we
can all work together to
achieve the many needs which
are facing the people of Tex-
as, and to solve the many pro-
blems of our rapidly changing
society and economy. As al-
ways, I welcome your views
on all matters which are pend-
ing before the Legislature,
either in Committee or on the
floor of the Senate. I am
pleased to report to you that
this year, for the first time
in history, I have been suc-
cessful in having adirect tele-
phone line installed from Dal-
las to Austin. You may call
me, without charge, in Austin,
by merely dialing 263-2416 in
Dallas County. I hope that you
will continue to give me the
benefit of your views so that
I might properly represent
you and the other people of our
District and our State.
I appreciate very much the
many telephone calls and let-
ters which I have received
regarding this Session of the
Legislature. Your continued
friendship makes mu humble
indeed and proud to serve as
your spokesman in the Senate
of Texas.
Sincerely your friend,
Oscar H. Mauzy
