Austin, Texas, March 19.—
Attorney General Smith this
evening received a telegram from
Washington announcing that
the judgment of the State courts
in the Waters-Pierce Oil com-
pany case had been affirmed by
the supreme court of the United
States. This was a civil action
for damages for violation of the
anti-trust law in effect prior to
the aot of the Twenty-sixth legis-
lature, whioh became operative
January 31 of the present year.
The constitutionality of said act
was involved in the case and the
effect of the supreme court's de-
cision therein will be to drive the
Waters-Pierce Oil company out
of the State, unless it changes
its method of doing business.
