COFFEE AS A DISINFECTANT.
Experiments have shown that
coffee is a powerful disinfectant.
We have seen it stated that a
room in which meat in an advanced
state of decomposition had been
keen kept for some time, was in-
stantly deprived of all smell on an
open coffe roaster being carried
through it, containing a .pound of
coffee newly roasted. In another
room, exposed to the effluvium oc-
casioned by the clearing out a ma
nore pit, so that sulphuretted hy-
drogen and ammonia in great
quantities could bo chomically de-
tected the stench was completely
removed in halt a minute, on the
employment of three ounces
of fresh roasted coffee, while the
other parts of the house werfi per-
manently clcarcd of the same smell
by being simply traversed with the
coffee roaster, although the clean-
sing of the pit continued for sever-
al hours after. The best modo of
usiDg coffee as a disinfectant is to
draw th© raw bean, pound it in the
mortar, and^then roast the powder
on a moderately boated iron plate,
until it assumos a dark brown tint,
when It is fit for use. Then sprin-
kle it in sinks or ccsspools, or lay
it on a plate in the room which
you wish to have purified.
Oil from Nature's Wells.
The skin on the head Is kept soft and flex-
ible by a secretion from the oil glands.
When these are clogged the hair dries and
falls off. Parkers Stair Balsam renews their
action, restores the original color to the hair
and makes it soft and glossy. It also eradi-
cates dandruff. Not greasy, not a dye, de-
lieiouslv pel fumed. Delightful for a lady's
toilet table. The best of dressings. Prefera-
ble to all similar articles because of its supe-
rior cleanliness and purity.
"One of our exchangos in the
following little squib, makes a
statement that will apply to al-
most every newspaper editor:
"We employ canvassers to do our
soliciting as wo cannot do it with-
out potting mad evcrj' ten minutes,
People talk and act as it they were
bestowing charity, when they give
an advertisement which is to bene-
fit them more than anyone else.''
DANGER !
If you have a feeling of oppression and un-
easiness a little above the diaphragm, and
just below the right ribs, aggravated by lying
on the right sido, look out! As sure as fate,
your liver is disordered. Perha s not se-
riously as yet, but—fatal hepatic abscesses
are not uncommon. Hostetter's Stomach
Bitters is Die precise remedy to regulate the
liver, and prevent its congestion end inflam-
mation, and to disperse suoh minor indicia
of its derangement as yellowness of the skin
and ball of the eye, furred tongue, sourness
of the breath, nausea on rising in the morn-
ing, dizziness, sick headache and constipa-
tion. by rolaxing the bowels painlessly, it
opens a channel of exit for the superfluous
bile, chocks a tendency to congestion and
engorgement of the liver, at tne same time
giving a gentle impetus to its secretive action,
and affords relief to tbo stomach, which is
usually inactive, out of order and oppressed
with wind when the bowels are costive. Uso

ism and kidney troubles.
