Large Crowd of Shooters Expected to At-
tend This Week.
The 26th annual tournament
of the Texas State Sportsman's
Association will meet in this city
tomorrow and will'ba the ocoas
ion of one of the largest gather-
ings of sportsmen, both profes -
sionals and amateurs ever had in
South Texas Shooters with na-
tional reputations will participate
in the events, and it is confi-
dently expected that if conditions
are favorable soma records will
be broken, and out of the ama-
teur class may come new rivals
for world records. Besides the
S500 in added money will be the
$450 diamond medal for the live
bird championship of Texas, the
Schmelzer Arms Co. trophy, and
the Hunter Arms Co. gold badge.
All of the events are open with
the exception of the state m^dal
events.
Following is the program for
the four days shoot:
first day.
Five live birds, $3 entrance,
birds included; 30* yards rise,
four moneys, high guns.
Twenty live birds, $15 entrance,
birds included; 30 yards rise.
This event is for the individual
live bird ohampionship of Texas
and the $450 diamond medal now
held by M. E. Atchison of Gid-
dings. Money on this event will
be divided as follows: 50 per
cent of entrance fees, less the
price of birds, will goto the pres-
ent holder of the medal. The
balance of the purse will be di-
vided 50, 30 and 20 per cent, first
place receiving the diamond
medal only. Ties for the medal
to be shot off miss and out. This
event is open only to Texas shoot-
ers, but shooters from other
States will be permitted to shoot
for the price of birds and their
scores counted for average
maney.

teams of two members of any or-
ganized gun club in Texas.
Scores in this event do not count
for average, but do in the other
medal events.
The State medal events are
open only to Texas shooters, but
other shooters can shoot in them
for price of birds and targets,
and scores count for average.
Average Money.
To those shooting through the
entire program the management
will give the following average
moneys:
First high average, Hunter
Arms Co gold badge and $30.
Second high average, $25.
Third high average, $20.
Fourth high average, $15.
Fifth high average, $10.
Interstate rules will govern in
all events.
