Brenham defeated Bellvllle Sun-
day at Mathis park In a well-played
game, the wore being 4 to 2.
The baseball yesterday came np to
all expectations of the local fans as
It was some warmly-contested af-
fair. Bejlvllle came loaded for
bear and after the game decided
that they must have gotten the
wrong ammunition as it was too
light for big game. Bellvllle sent
to Houston to get the famous Texas
Company's battery that had sent the
local boys to defeat, but even these
hoys were too light for the heavy
work that they had to contend with.
Tom Taylor was here and as us-
ual he didn't get o hit. Cook, the
shortItelder. was another outsider
that was fnst, really loo fast, for
when he came In he usually met a
fast one and It went to the out-
flow.
Our boys all came up to the
standard of real baseball except
Schroeder who made a mess of ev-
erything he tried to do. Schroe-
der made 4 of the 5 errors charged
to the local club, The wild man
front Borneo made the other.
Jahnke, Pflukle nnd Herbst all
failed to register a blow yesterday.
McMurray got two, Mike, Schroeder,
Koperchtnsky, and Pap Behrens
«aeh registered a blow.
Bellvllle got only three hits and
made f> errors.
Our old Iron man. Mike, had ev-
erything yesterday, even the prayer
book and glove. He struck out 10
nun and walked one. Olauser, the
famous Texas Company's star ar-
tist, allowed fl hits and struck out
walked one, The umps was from
Bellvllle and his name was Strauss.
The game as a whole was well
played and the local hoys deserved
to win as they played the classiest
game.
Several of the Bellvllle fans have
n't nearly as much money in their
nockets as the result, of the game.
Bellvllle brought something like 75
rooters and they certainly were In
evidence when their team tied the
score hut then Mike settled down
and their fire was out. Toe attend-
ance wns better than It has been at
any game this season. Manager
Sullivan announces that he will try
to get another fast team here Sun-
day If the boys are not called to
the colors before then.

goods, goes the audience at the Rex
theater on Tuesday during the ex-
hibition of the Vitagraph Blue Rib-
bon feature, "Aladdin from Broad-
way," starring Edith Storey, Anto-
nio Moreno and William Duncan.
The charming comedy drama of
laughter intermingled with thrills,
pathos and tears is laid generally
in the oldest cities of the old world. I
The narrow streets with the brok-,
ui pavoments. beggars lying about j
in every conceivable corner and the
<iueer curtained carriages bearing
veiled ladies to and fro are all au- ;
thentlcally shown.
The homes of the wealthy nier-'
chants with the great carpeted stone
steps leading Into beautiful gardens
where the fountains play softly and
the birds twitter In the fruit trees,
blossoming in the sunshine form ex-
quisite backgrounds for the charac-
ters In their picturesque satin cos-
tumes, flowing veils and jewelled
wraps.
The rooms inside separated from
one another by richly embroidered
screens, with the oriental furnish-
ings of tapestries and silk curtains
are all shown. Even the incense
burning in some dull gold vase Is
there and one feels that they have
been transplanted to the county
which the Bible describes.
