motion of counsel for Alphonso
F. Cutair, Jr., who was recently
convicted of tlie murder ol his

trial, and sentenced the prisoner
to be hanged. Cutair murdered
Mrs. Logue about twenty years
ago and buried her body beneath
the kitchen floor of their home.
The woman's disappearance
was not accounted for until her

At this point much commotion j
was occasioned by the appearance J
of a huge picture of Bland coming ;
down the center aisle of the con-
vention hall, and at the same time 1
Colonel Shepard advanced to the
stage and moved to endorse Bland
for the presidency. This motion
was received with deafening
cheers and while Senator Chilton
rushed to the front of the plat-
form to oppose his endorsement.
Col. John Duncan also opposed
an endorsement of Bland and fa-
voring endorsing ex-Governor
Hogg for the presidency: a gener
al row was precipitated and the
supporters r>\ the state adminis-
tration and Hogg raised Cain in
in their opposition to Bland and

fever heat.
Judge Reagan also spoke on
the Bland question, opposing any
presidential endorsement at all.
