Dr. Browder admits tne histori-
cal quotation by Elder Ballard,
but he did not tell the reader how
he answered it. He replied some-
thing after this fashion:
"We do not deny that infant
baptism was practiced down
through the dark ages. Not only
did those heathen people baptize
their infants, but broiled them on
the coals like young chickens.
Pro. Ballard must bring his proofs
from the scriptures to show that
his church is identical with the
church in the days of the apostles."
Now if Dr. Browder only knew
it the writer is as far from l>eliev-
ing in or defending infant baptism
as he is. Our sympathies are all
on that side of the question, and
we were only trying to give an un-
prejudiced account of the debate.
Both men made grand efforts, of
which their people ought to feel
proud. But no one who is not
blinded by prejudice will say that
one man got all the spoils. Men
who were not involved in the dis-
cussion can give a better account
of it than those who were wrought
up over the discussion.
Both these men deserve more
credit for their logic and learning
than they will ever get perhaps.
The readers w ill no doubt re-
member that two men had the de-
bate at Valiey View, but now six
