The Injunction Refused.
Austin, Tex., June 20.—Judge
Morris today handed down a de-
cision in the Houston and Galves
ton cotton differential case, refus
ing to grant the injunction prayed
for by the Galvestonians.
The Leaguers.
Cleveland, ()., June 20.—It was
after 2 o'clock this morning when
the subcommittee on resolutions
adjourned. Blackwell of Massa-
chusetts presented a resolution in-
clining very strongly toward a
gold standard, and numerous
other resolutions expressing all
sorts of views on the money ques-
tion followed in quick succession.
It was soon evident that
there was only two real
binietallists in the committee,
Dubois of Idaho, and Allen of
Utah. They spoke for free coin-
age at 16 to 1, a resolution was
then offered, declaring it not the
duty of the League to adopt a
platform for the republican party
as that action should be left to the
national convention. Allen and
Dubois vigorously oppose d this
resolution holding the league to de-
clare its principles. The gold
men spoke in favor of the resolu-
tion and the vote was 9 to 2 in its
favor.

Houston, Tex., Juue 20 The
M., K. T. jtassenger train which
into a
lloating bridge across a ravine
about seven miles north of this
city. The train reached the bridge
at 10:12 o'clock, and when within
twenty feet the eugineer, Henry
Garrett, saw a "swag"' in the
bridge and immediately applied
the air brake, not in time, how-
ever, to stop the train, and as the
locomotive went upon the floating
bridge the eugineer felt it was go-
ing. He stuck to his post and
' was not injured. The fireman was
Star shoveling coal, and after crossing
the bridge, when the tender fell to
the left, he fell to the right down
an embankment, but was only
i slightly bruised. The engine and
i baggage car shoved across the ra-
| viue by the momentum of the train
j and were piled in a wreck on the
opposite bank. The smoker was
jammed across ttie track with both
lends out: the second class coach
spanned the ravine, taking the
j place of the bridge; two chair cars
and the sleeper kept the track this
j side of the washout. Passengers
were in both smoker and second
class coaches, and how they es-
caped death and more serious in-
juries is a mystery. Conductor
\V. J. Johnston walked back to
the city and immediately took out
physicians and a relief corps. No
lives were lost, but Baggage Agent
T. I>. Benfrow, Engineer Garrett,
Fireman J. W. Slocum. Section
Foreman John Graham and two
colored passengers were slightly
injured and brought to the hos-
pital here. The track will be
cleared tonight and traffic re-
sumed.

WASHINGTON LETTER.
From Our ( tit
Washington, June 17.—Secre-
tary < arlisle brought news from
Kentucky that was very gratify-
ing to President Cleveland, and
which will doubtless add much to
the president's enjoyment of his
delayed vacation. Uuless Secre-
tin Carlisle is badly mistaken,
the financial policy of the admin-
last election in Kentucky was a
ver" close one, I feel confident
that when the state votes for presi-
dent we will have one of our old
time majorities. No difference of
opinion on a single issue can pre-
