HELP US DO GOOD !
As will be noticed elsewhere
the News has decided, at its own
expense, to contribute free to two
•worthy young ladies of i)enton
county their tuition, one lor a
ten months' term and the other
for a live months' term, in the
North Texas Normal college.
This excellent institution will
next year be under the manage-
ment of Prof. M. I}. Tcrrill, of!
Tennessee, one of the most thor-
ough and energetic educators in j
Gustave Cook, who ran against
Jim Hogg for governor in 1890,
after Throckmorton withdrew
from the race, is stumping the
state for Keagan.—Terrell Times-
Star.
As if that is any sign of a duck's
nest. Why, we know of a hun-
dred leading politicians who very
strenuously opposed Gov. llogg
two years ago and who are now
for Culberson, the Time-Star's
candidate. It strikes us that
such demagoguery as appears in
the above paragraph is in bad
taste coming as it does from a
man who is a candidate for the
state sen at".
The idea of measuring the abil-
ity of Charley Culberson with
that of Judge Keagan is presump-
tion akin to impudence. Why,
Culberson was never a member
of the legislature or any other
legislative body. How many old
legislators do you suppose would
regard with seriousness recom-
mendations on complicated issues
from such an inexperienced execu-
tive:'

Democrats, especially the
the South, and his associate fac-
ulty is composed of the best train-
ing talent obtainable. The tui-
tions for these two terms aggre-
gate $81, and the only way in
which the News can be recom-
pensed is the increase in its circu-
lation, the value ot which we do
not expect to reach half the sum |
expended for the tuition, as all
the present subscribers are enti
tied to votes.
Readers, you have in your com-
munity some worthy young lady
who desires tohave an educa-
tion in order that she may be
able to cope with the more for-
tunate and make for herself aj
place in the world. It will cost : Seven Drowned in Four Weeks.
