During their ten day trip they
will make side stops in St. Louis
and other cities and spend two
nights in Nashville. Tonness-e,
where the group will attend the
Grand 01’ Opry." They will also
spend the day in Opry Land.
While in Pennsylvania they sill
stay in homes of 11I families.
l-'ach Sw sher County 4 H er will
take a oft representing Texas and
Sw sher County. They will learn
about the economy of the area,
family life, history and scenic pla-
ces of interest. They will also
visit. discuss and exchange ideas
about 4 II projects, contest, activi-
ties and events.
The same county 4-lfcrs will
host the- Pennsylvania delegation
in 197"> when they come to Texas.
The group ho|>cs to show the peo-
ple- from Pennsylvania what Texas
has to offer.

peting for a berth on the top
20 list of winners at the District
2 4 H Horse Show here June 24.

event will compete in the State
4-H Horse Show at Dallas in Aug-
ust.
Winners in the Swisher County
competition or the county level
are champion Horseman 1. Sherry
Starkey with 38 (joints for the
two elimination contests. 2 Chris
Pearson. Sherry and Chris are
both members of Happy 4-H. 3.
Denise Davis. Vigo Park 4-H. 4.
Dudley Met lurg. Tuba 4-H.
Others in the top ten included
Brenda Jo Mote, Tuba 4-H: Kiddie
Joe Pearson, Happy 4-H; Guy
Walt Via, Happy 4-H; Wayne
Reed, Denise Rped and Sherry
Vineyard, Kress 4-H. Alternates
to the District Show include Julie
McClurg, Tulia 4-H: Valerie
Tipps. Happy 4-H; Lisa Campbell,
Tuba 4-H; Trent F’inck and Alex
F'inck. Tuba 4-H. Thirty three 4-
II members participated in the
two elimination contests and the
top horses will represent Swisher
County at the District Horse Show
on Monday, June 24.
Already winners of county com-
pel ition. the youth will be compet-
ing in hatter, showmanship and
performance classes.
Site of this year's horse show
is Cobb-Wheeler-Mote Arena, Tu-
ba.
Last year, of 15 first place a-
wards, 10 w ere won by girls, Cook
added. Floyd County topped the
20 counties in District 2 to win
highest point total honors.
Tom Gibbs of Wichita Kalis and
Douglas Wilson, Hardeman Couuiy
Extension agent from Quanah will
serve as official judges for the
1974 contest. Superintendent will
be Ken C<x)k, Swisher County Ex-
tension agent from Tulia.
The quota of entries is based
on the number of active 4-H
members with horse projects in
each county, Cook said.
