WELL IT seems like every-
one is droopy this week.
Vivian Latham and Kathy
Flores are home from the
hospital. Roy Beasley. Ina
May May. Otto Langston.
Frankie George and Marie
McMurry and Charles and
Helen Norwood have all been
sick. So you see this com-
munity is droopy but all are
better.
KATHY FLORES had a
birthday party when she
came home. No little friends
but Joan was home so they
had a nice supper and birth-
day cake. A big 5 years old
and by the way, Simon has a
birthday Friday the 13th and
I didn't find out how many he
had had. not with that num-
ber in front, but Happy
Birthday to all Feb-ettes —
Gary Gardner. Daylc Culwell
and w ho else?
ROY AND I were in Can-
son ten days. Our children
Cliff and Sweetie Abbott
were in Washington, L). C
He was elected vice presi-
dent of the Grass Roots area
of the American Institute of
Architect and they flew to
Washington for planning for
the future. Jack Hightower
welcomed them and at a
reception this met a young
man on Hightower's staff.
Claiborne Crane from Can-
son so they were made to feel
at home. They enjoyed the
trip verv much but were
happy to be back on the
plains as it was cold and
rains there. I sisited Mrs.
C astlcbcrrs Monday evening
before 1 came home. She is
well but awful lonesome.

Nursery
Annual
Meeting
The annual meeting of
Tulia Community Nursery
Association will be March 12.
1981. at 7 p.m. at the
Nursery Building. All inter-
ested persons from the com-
munity are invited. This in-
stitution is truly a community
project.
Income is received from
parent fees (26%); local
donations from United Fund.
Swisher County, churches,
businesses, individuals
(10%); US DA (12%); and
from the Texas Department
of Human Resources (46%).
State regulations require that
30% of the money received
from the state be matched
with local donations. The
Nursery is completely de-
pendent upon the generosity
of the community for this
money.
A daily average of 48
children were served in 1980.
1H families were assisted by
state and federal funds.
Evcrv parent who uses the
Day Nursery pays a fee.
however. A single parent on
minimum wage pays $2.14
for one child. A single parent
on minimum wage with 3
children pays less per child.
I he highest fee is $*i.(K) per
day.
$75.800.(X) was placed in
the local economy in salaries.
$! <1.000.00 was spent on
food. At this writing 37
families are choosing the
Nursery to help them rear
their children—19 ol these
arc single parent families.

medicine now. So he was

TALKED TO Hazel Jenn-
ings this evening (Sunday),
she is doing very well. Said
her legs wouldn't hold her up
but she will soon be up and
around, those First tries are
bad.
IT'S A girl for Earl and
Dian Gardner. She arrived
Feb 3 Her name is Vesta
( elc'sic and they are home
and doing fine. She has a big
brother Kenneth to help
monirm care for her.
ROSA LEE McBride is
putting in a cafe here at Vigo
Park. He looking for her
opening date. We may get a
free cup of coffee. I know it
will he nice, and she is a

blustery this morning Ma\
have to add another blanket
to the bed. Can't turn the fire
up but our homes are comfor-
table without the extra heat.
So be conservative-just add a
blanket or wear a sweater.
ROY AND I were in Hast-
ings. Okla. Friday night to
see my sister Maude Bridges
and they took her to her son's
home in Stcphcnsvilie. She is
a little better and needs
constant care and as she
lived alone she didn't need to
he home. We came back
Saturday. 1 hope we can stay
home for aw hile so do call in
your news.

On Dean’s List
Among the 158 students

Lubbock Christian College
the 1980 Fall semester, one
is from Tulia.
That student is Amber
Sturgess who has a 3.76
grade point average and is a
freshman pre-law major.
