Travis Road. Hostesses for

Mrs. John Will Nichols.
Club President, welcomed
the members and their
guests, and introduced Mrs.
Love who gave the program
on "Doll Collecting".
Mrs. Love shared with
the group that collecting
means different things to
different people. "To some,
collecting is a way of mak-
ing contact with the past, an
art form, a literary achie-
vement. a period in history,
to admire, to identify with,
to understand. To other in-
dividuals. collecting is
simply a desire to be sur-
rounded by things one may
like, just because they arc
pretty, well made, or inter-
esting. Doll collecting may
be the opportunity to recap-
ture fond childhood mem-
ories through story book
dolls or the teddy bears.
However a collection bc-
MRS. DW ANE LOVE
gins, it is a very personal
extention of the individual
and perhaps a legacy for
loved ones.”
Some of Mrs. Love's doll
collection includes the Ma-
dame Alexander's "First
Ladies of the United States"
which are Abigail Fillmore.
Jane Pierce. Harriet Lane,
Mary Todd Lincoln. Martha
