is not because the people of Sham-
Tock are backward about contributing
to the aid of the distressed, but be-
cause there is, so far as known, no
need for such organizations. Con-
siderable amounts have been subscrib-
ed this year by citizens of the town
and various organizations to orphans
homes, homes for the aged and other
charitable institutions. But such is
•the general prosperity of the Sham-
rock country that there are very
few, if any, families in actual want.
What few there are will no doubt
he visited by good Saint Nick through
private benove'ence.

Ed Burch of Mineral Wells, who
has been visiting his daughter, Miss
Grace, and the W. J. Sherwood
family, left Tuesday for home. Mr.
Burch is a prominent realtor of
Mineral Wells and it is reported he
has several deals pending with Sham-
rock citizens.
