day dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs.
H. Ayers and boys in Lubbock
and Sunday afternoon they vis-
ited Dewayne Brewer in the
Methodist hospital.

Mrs. Berry Is Top Prize Winner
From Here in South Plains Fair
Mrs. Cecil Berry took three first prizes, one second
prize and five third prizes on her entries in the South
Plains Fair last week, making her Crosbyton's top prize
winner at the Lubbock Fair.
Mrs. Berry entered the fair again this year after win-
ning on both her entries last year, which was her first
year to enter the fair.
She won first prizes on a kit-
chen apron and a dress and third
prize on a housecoat and an
appliqued apron entered In the
sewing division. Her jelly took
a first prize and her sweet peach
pickles won second. She
won
third prizes on her tomato juice,
pickled peppers and strawberry
preserves.
Mrs. Berry said, “I had no Idea
I’d win anything when I enter-
ed, but felt the more entries the
Fair had the better it would be.”
Mrs. Barbara McNeill, presi-
dent of the Crosbyton Young
Homemakers won first place
with her angel food cake.
Members of the Crosbyton
Home Economics classes also
carried off some prizes. Barbara
Bales won second on her marsh-
mallow fudge, Sherry Watson
placed third on her pot holder,
Kitty Joyce Moore won third on
her standard fudge and Lenoir

Gives Program at
McAdoo WSCS
The Woman’s Society of Christ-
ian Service of the McAdoo Meth-
odist Church met Thursday af-
ternoon, October 1, in the
church annex.
New yearbooks were presented
to those present.
Mrs. Coy Powers presented the
program on “The Disciplined
Life."
Those present were Mmes.
Earl Van Meter, John A. Allen,
Elmer Ward, Coy Powers and M.
A. Graham. *

visited Mrs. Tom Bradberry in
the Crosbyton hospital after the
ballgame.
Mr. and Mrs. Weldon Seigler
went to the veterans hospital at
Big Springs on Monday for a
check-up. Weldon has been a
patient there and the Doctor dis-
missed him.
Jacky Pierce of Lubbock spent
Monday night with the W. T.
Barnetts, Mrs. Jack Pierce and
Mrs. T. O. Bunch of Lubbock
came after him Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Marley,
Brenda, and Debra were Sunday
guest of Mrs. Marley’s sister and
family Mr. and Mrs. Bill Key
and John at Abernathy.

terscotch square cookies.

White River Club
The White River Home Demon-
stration Club met at the home
of Mrs. Henry Slack Friday af-
ternoon. Mrs. Elbert Humble
caUed the meeing to order and
Mrs. Slack gave the opening ex-
ercise.
The roll call was answered
with "A new product I ve tried”.
Mrs. Alfred Briggs gave the
council report.
Mrs. Doylene Meadors present-
ed the program on “Floor Cover-
ing”.
Refreshments were served to
Mmes. Derral Fisher, Buran
Jones, R. W. Self, Dee Berry,
Glenn Jones, Briggs, Humble,
the hostess, Mrs. Slack, and one
visitor, Mrs. Brooks irom Marble
Falls.
The next meeting will be Oct.
16, at the home of Mrs. Glenn
Jones. The program will be on
“Personal Appearance’’.

I have purchased this station and plan to re-open it
for business sometime this week-end with a full line of
Phillips “66” Products.
Texaco Station Open Fot Two Weeks
For the next two weeks I will continue to operate the
Texaco Station on Highway 82 at Emerald Avenue, until
my customers all learn about the new location.
I plan a formal opening at my new place of business
in the near future. Watch for this date and plan to at-
tend. In the meantime, we will continue to give you good
service at all times at our Texaco location.

Has Last Lesson
on Knitting
The McAdoo Young Homemak-
ers Club met Wednesday after-
noon, October 2, In the home-
making cottage with ten mem-
bers present.
Mrs. Earl Van Meter gave the
group their last lesson on knit-
ting, which was very interest-
ing.
Pictures of the club were made
for the scrapbook.
Mrs. Ellis Power served cake
and hot spiced punch to those
present.
The next meeting will be Wed-
nesday, October 14 when the
club president, Mrs. Bill Young,
will have charge of the program
which will be a business meet-
ing. ' _ -
