Drilling for water
A new city water well is being drilled this week at the East
Booster Station. High Plains Drilling Co. of Hereford is the
driller, and expects to complete and test the new well by Fri-
day, to supplement the city water supply until a new water field
can be located with the $450,000 emergency grant just ap-
proved by the Texas Department of Commerce.

Big Bird comes to county
These big birds are neither storks nor ostriches, but Emus, natives of the Australian
bush, now being raised in Hemphill County by Joe Schaef, Dan Gatlin and Stuart
Anderson as a commercial experiment.
