Boys' Work To Benefit
Bellaire Optimists Back
In Christmas Tree Business
Members of the Bellaire Opti-
mist Club began selling Christ-
mas trees Saturday at 5710 Old
Richmond Road, the former
Tropic Landscapes Nursery lo-
cation, next to the JMH store.
Ken Toft, chairman of Christ-
mas Tree Sales for the club, an-
nounced that the lot will be open
daily from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m., and
from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Satur-
days and Sundays.
All proceeds received from
the sales of Christmas trees are
used by the Optimists for their
Boys’ Work program, which for
the past four years has included
coordination of the entire Little
League baseball program in the
Bellaire area. This year the pro-
gram will also take in sponsor-
ship of junior-senior teenage
teams, thus making Bellaire’s
Optimists directly concerned
with kids’ baseball from ages 8
to 17.
Tree sizes range from two to
ten feet, priced rram $1.00 up.
Mr. Toft advises there are white
painted trees in all sizes, and as
an extra service this year, the
Optimists will paint to order any
tree the customer selects.
There is ample paved park-
ing space at the front of the
lot. The use of this location and
the sales office on it has been
donated by a local real estate'
agent, John J. Keenan. All Opti-
mists working at the lot are
donating their time and services
free of charge in the’interest of
the Boys' Work program.
