PLEASE REAL TITE I'OI.LOVTINO :
Brooklyn, Aug- 15.—This is to certify that 1
came to New York from Albany. I was a stranger
in a strange city, out of work and out of money. I
hail no luck in nothing I undertook. AVliat to do I
did not know. A friend advised me to go anil see
I>r. Shea. I did. He told me the cause of my
troubles; he took me in and treated me as a broth-
er. Through him I got a good position that very
week. I had been to others; they took my money
and did me no good. I bless the day I first, met Br
Shea. I would advise all in bad luck, sick or in
trouble to go to him at once. Sincerely
» Albert Avers, 2987 Atlantic Avenue.
Brooklyn, Aug. 15.—This letter is to certify that
my husband had gone away and had been absent
two years, I mourned for him night and day. I
gave him up as dead. Hearing of the wonderful
things Dr. Shea was doiug I resolved to consult
him. He told me that my husband was alive and
well and where he was; told me lie would come
home and when. To my joy all of it came true.
He is home now. came back like one from the dead
I also wish tosay that this month I lost §250. I am
a poor woman and 1 was almost insane. I went to
Dr. Shea and he told me I would find mv money
and to my intense joy 1 did find it as he told me. I
thank Ood there is a man so gifted in our midst
that can help people and tei{ thein what to do.
Sincerely Mrs. Mary Miller Smith,

certainty that most of these are frauds pure and simple, we wish to niak?-
a straight-forward statement to the colored people of America, through its brut
paper, The Advance.
In 1 he year 1S71 our present Secretary through a fortunate circumstance ac-
quired the receipt for OZOXO. It was not offered for sale or pushed to any
extev.t until 1875 when it was put upon the market and met with marked suc-
cess. After a thorough test by the \ead\ug colored people at that time, it was
pronounced an honest, legitimate remedy. True to all we claimed for it ami
worthy in every respect of the confidence and attention of every member of
tlie colored r^ce. Because they found it to cause the hair to GROW LONG
AND STRAIGHT, soft and fine and as beautiful as an April morn In sr. It also
cures all forms of itching, humiliating scalp diseases, stops the hair from falling
out, and causes a new growth to grow on the baldest head. Now, whenever a
genuine article appears on the market, there are always a lot of people who
imitate and make capital out of the merit of other peoples' goods. Seeimr our
marked success numerous so-called hair growers and straisfbteners were put on
the market. Of course the colored people had no way to tell that, they were be-
ing fooled and Jjought most of {hem to their sorrow.
Now we ask you a plain question. Would we absolutely agree to refund
you your money provided you are not satisfied with the preparations we man-
ufacture if our goods were not true to all we claim for them? We assert right
here that we have advertised for nearly 24 years offering to return the monev

The matron of a well known Masonic Home mentions one inmate,
aeventy years of age, who has been in the infirmary for three years,
a great sufferer from indigestion, and has been taking Ripans Tab-
ules about a year and a half and finds them so beneficial that he is
never without them. He is willing that his name should be used iin
a testimonial, as it might: be of use in persuading some other person
to try them. A second old gentleman, in the same institution
eighty-four years of age, has had liver trouble for many years and
finds that R*I-P\A/N*S help him very much. They also have two
Burses there, one thirty years of age, the other forty-two; both suffer
from indigestion, causing headache, depression of spirits and n<
