[ A new era dawns! Gangsterism,
as a theme ior motion pictures, has
finally reached the stage where it
can be kidded.
® That's what happens in "A Slight
Case of Murder," a gaily hilarious
burlesque from the studios of War-
ner Brothers, which will bring
howls of laughter from audiences at
Jhe Texas Theatre Thursday and
Friday
Curiously, the star of this farce
is the same man who first establish-
ed the gangster-racketeer as a fam-
iliar screen figure—Edward G. Rob-
Jnson, who years ago was the men-
acing "Little Caesar" and who car-
ried on through various underworld
pictures right down to “Bullets or
Ballots" and the recent “Kid Gala-
had" and “The Last Gangsters."
£ There are shootings in “A Slight
Xase of Murder,” of course. In fact,
! four gangsters of various degrees of
j wickedness bite the dust. But the
(killings are so ludicrous that they
bring laughs instead of gasps.
The picture is an adaption of the
successful stage play of the-'same
name by Damon Runyon and How-
ard Lindsay, and their "characters”
of the nether-world are always fun-
ny, whether they’re playing the
races or being rubbed out by their
enemies.
An excellent cast supports the
star, including Ruth Donnelly, Allen
Jenkins, Ed Brophy. George E.
Stone, Paul Harvey, Bobby Jordan,
Betty Compson, John Litel and
Harry Seymour.
“A Slight Case of Murder” was
directed by Lloyd Bason. The film is
farce at its absolute best.
They’re back again—those lovable,
intensely human members of the
Hardy family—and Shamrock the-
atre-goers will love them In their

Check over these common avoidable discomforts — all of
which may be directly attributable to your EYES:

LACK OF ENERGY
After-Reading Burn, Ache, Tire
If any of these bother you, don't delay having your eyes

' “These factors point to the possi-
ibility of an increase in oil produc-
tion, so that there is no longer a
necessity for maintaining both the
Saturday and Sunday shut-downs.
Gasoline stocks, however, are still
approximately 10 per cent higher,
and fuel oil stocks are 38 per cent
higher than a year ago, and the fav-
orable conditions which are just
now developing have not yet mater-
ialized into accomplished facts.”
