Preachers generally have a good
selection of stories on tap . . . and
the one I’m about to tell came from
a preacher, by the way. Seems
that the preacher asked a series
of questions to dramatize his ser-
mon this particular Sunday. “How
many of you want to go to hel ?’’
The show of hards was negative.
“How many want to go to heavi n'”
The entire congregation, with the ex-
ception oi one little Negro boy, held
up its collective hand. "Brother,”
asked the preacher, addressing the
little boy, “don't you want to go
to heaven?” “Yas suh, I do, but I j
thought youall was trying to get
up a load now!”

Girl Scouts Make
Posters At Meeting'
Intermediate Girl Scouts of
Troop 84 made posters advertising
Girl Scout Week at their weekly
meeting held Thursday afternoon
in the Methodist Men’s Building
on North Main Street.
After a social hour Hostess Kathy
Meadows served refreshments to
the following: Betty Kay Barrett,
Judith Going, Ruth Terry, Char-
lotte Pakan, Cheryi Snyder, Mar-
ha Hrnciar. Bett e Cooper and the
troop leader, Mrs. w. C. Glover.
Mrs. O. A Robertson, former
Shamrock resident who now makes
her home with her daughter, Mrs.
Charles Ault, 9919 Cisister Drive,
Dallas- is a patient in the Baylor
Hospital. She is reported to be
doing nicely.
“Wanna buy some Girl Scout cookies?”
That wiil be the greeting as Shamrock housewives
answer door hells during National Girl Scout Week,
March 9 through 14.
Approximately 120 members of the seven Sham-
rock Girl Scout Troops will become door-to-door sales
ladies as they try to sell about 500 boxes of cookies at
50c per box.
A portion of the funds remains in the local treas-
ury but most of the profit (above the 23c net cost of the
cookies) goes toward maintenance of Camp Mel Davis
near I.efors. Sale of cookies is an annual event wherever
there is a Girl Scouts organization.
