MR5 x A. V. HA YES furnishes the following
quips to this department,
Gro wing old is only a state of mind brought
on by gray hair, false teeth, wrinkles, a big
stoms ich, short breath and an all-over feeling
of bei ng totally po oped.
Tel iling your children to "be careful" has
the 5 same effect as your children telling you
"not to worry."
A girl is grown-up when she wants to go
buy- buy instead off bye-bye.
Tf le boy who 'got a wrist watch for high
schc >ol graduation now has a son who wears
one to kindergarten.
Scaring up at one's own halo produces a
pair i in the neck.
II; isn't necessary to blow out the other
felLow's light in order to let your own shine.
'The right to be heard doesn't necessarily
me^an the right to be taken seriously.
There is a bigger fool than a fellow who
knows it all; it's the fellow who will argue
with him.
Many roads t:o failure have run into the
highway of success for those who dared to
continue.
Maturity is the ability to do a job, whether
supervised or nor; finish it once it's started;
carry money without spending it; and bear
injustice without: wanting to get even.
Richard Brooks said it; "He who sows cour-
tesy reaps friendship and he who plants kind-
ness gathers love."
One of the most effective ways to make a
long story short is for the boss to walk in.
Opportunity knocks only once, but tempta-
tion leans on the doorbell.
A LOCAL FKREMAN furnishes this depart-
ment the following, entitled "The Volunteer:"
He wears no uniform of blue
He's just a common man like you
No flashy badge adorns his chest
To make him different from the rest.
But when bhere's fire, smoke and flame
Then behold,, he's not the same
As you and I who stand aside
When danger lurks and courage is tried
He'll die to save a human life
Perhaps your daughter, son or wife
He gets no pay from year to year
Still, he's proud to be a volunteer.
CHARLES ENGLAND, one of the nicest guys
you'll ever meet, is this week's pick as an
extra nice guy to know.

To the Editor; ...
Almost everyone in this area participates in
Goodwill Industries during the year.
Goodwill is dedicated to rehabilitaio, training
and place ment of handicapped persons in the
Greater D alias area.
Through our volunteers, persons who place
materials in the Goodwill boxes around the city,
we were able to employ nearly 1200 persons
during the 1975 year. . . ,
As a result of evaluation, skills training and
personal and social adjustment, more than 56
persons have successfully been placed in com-
petititivo industry, with many others moving
on to further training or being employed per-
manent!'y in the Goodwill Industries plant.
This works because the citizens of Cedar Hill
make it happen.
Peopl e help Goodwill when they have items
they net longer use, by shopping at Goodwill
stores for bargains and by truly caring that
the ha ndicapped in this community get the
chance to help themselves.
We s alute you, Cedar Hill citizens and thank
all of you for helping Goodwill during 1975.
Sincerely,
FRE DERICK M. SHERMAN
Executive Director
Goodwill Industries of Dallas

SANTA CLAUS
Holiday Spirit
Known throughout the world for
his happy outlook and generosity,
Mr. Claus has never failed to
spread cheer during the month
of December. Idolized by Cedar
Hill youth of all ages, he is
perhaps the recepient of the lar-
gest amount of fan mail of any
public figure . Living by the motto
"It is better to give than to re-
ceive," he has never failed to
light the candle of Christmas
spirit in the hearts of Cedar Hill
citizens.
