NEW EQUIPMENT
FOR THE PROGRESS
Two papers nt Stamford Consoli-
date and the Progress Becomes
Benolielary In Jiew Machinery.
The Stamford .News, of which .1. S.
Daley was proprietor and the Stam-
ford Tribune of which Judge if. f).
Greenwood was editor und proprietor,
were consolidated last week and the
of last Friday came out as the
i-Tribune with Greenwood &
as publishers and equally inter-
in the publication. Each of the
newspapers were well est&b-
publlcatlons and had u large list
and very fine newspaper
Additional quarters adjoining
occupied by the News has been

The consolidation gives Stani-
a strong newspaper and an equlp-

and Bl Paso with possibly one
The commercial club and
citizenship generally of that thriv-
jwestern city gave a hearty approv-

Justify. The Progress, too is decided-
ly h gainer by this, as both the
New* and the Tribune had one of the
latest. Improved Linotype machines and
one of these was the first of Gils week
shipped to Dubliu and is now a part of
the Progress plant. Other valuable
equipments which were duplicated in
tile consolidation came to the Progress
office the first of this week and the
Progress plant is now decidedly a bet-
ter one than it has ever before been.
Judge Greenwood, who is an old news-
paper man. a brilliant writer and a
lawyer of many' years experience, will
have charge of the consolidated t .'si-
ne-ss. His ability in business manage-
ment as well as in literary art is such
as to guarantee the News-Tribune to
be one of the leading representatives
of Texas journalism, as well as a pro-
nounced financial success.
Corn Clnb Rates to Bullas.
On account of the corn club boys
special to the Dallas fair over the
Frisco rood on the 26th, the rate on
that train has been placed at a price
of $1.25 for the round trip from points
within one hundred miles of Dallas
and a cent a mile for all excess. This
makes the rate $l.45 from Dublin. The
morning train upon which this rate
applies will reach Dallas in the fore-
noon and leave there about 9 o'clock
that night. An • (Tort is being made
to procure a sp lal train over the
Frisco for the occasion.
