McMullin wins Place 2 run-off
Continued from Page 1A-
Thursday of the month, McMullin
added that he “has no agenda” for
city issues.
He did say he foresees some is-
sues he expects to come before the
council.
“Drainage, for one, as evidenced
by the flooding in the older part of
town after the recent heavy rains,”
he said.
Whether coincidentally or not,
the council tonight, Thursday, June
15, is scheduled to take its first look
at a proposed ordinance updating
the city’s storm drainage design
manual. Drainage is a topic that was
frequently brought up during election
campaigns.
McMullin also wants to keep a
close eye on development.
“There’s so much stuff coming
up through Planning and Zoning
along (State Hwy.) 361 that I want to
staunchly enforce building codes and
ensure that any deed restrictions are
in compliance with city ordinances,”
he said.
“If we need to change (zoning or-
dinances) ... whatever happens, we
need to be strictly within the letter
of the law.”
McMullin said he’s also interested
in keeping track of the Port Aransas
Preservation and Historical Associa-
tion’s push to get the older part of the
city recognized as a historic area.
“It’s a very worthwhile effort, and
I’m anxious to hear more about that,
as well,” he said.
“We have to hold on to our little
town feeling.”
