Rotary Official
To Attend Meet
With Other Clubs
J. Neal,Miller Jr., Rotary dis-
trict governor, will attend a Mon-
day meeting in Beaumont at which
ihe Rotary clubs of South Park
and East Chicago, Ind., will hold
a joint meeting via long distance.
Arrangements for the meeting
were made by Clayton Lawler,
president of the South Park Ro-
tary Club, and Rabbi !A. Aaron
Segal, president of East Chicago
Club through the Bell Telephone
system.
Clarence W. Gori*, Rotary gov-
ernor district for the Chicago area
will attend the meeting in East
Chicago.
The program will begin at 12:05.
p.m, in the Golden. Arrow Restau-
rant. As planned, it includes com-
munity singing by each chib,
greetings by mayors of each
citv and other dignitaries, presen-
tation of telephone executives, in-
troduction of district governors
and guests and -interchanges be-
tween two members of each club.
This marks the first joint meet-
ing of clubs more than 1,000 miles
apart. Rotary officials said.
Howard Show Set
Here on Saturday
“The Paul Howard Show” fea-
turing the radio and recording art-
ist Paul Howard and his Arkansas
Cotton Pickers, will make a per-
sonal appearance in Orange Satur-
day under sponsorship of the local
Disabled American Veterans post.
The show will be staged at 8
p.m, in Stark High School audi-
torium. -
Howard and his troupe for many
years were star performers on the
“Grand Ole Opry” program from
Nashville. Tenn. For the bast few
years they have been making per-
sonal appearances throughout the
nation.
In addition to being a topfhght
western entertainer, Howard is a
song writer of note, having more
than 100 songs to his credit.
Among his compositions are such
(tunes as “With Tears in My Eyes,”
“Stay A Little Longer,” “Cotton
I Picker Special.” “Texas Boogie'
[and “Mother’s Prayer.”
i Along with Howard will be Nell
Rose Harper, vocalist. A! Hobson,
outstanding instrumentalist, and
Miss 6ianne. another vocalist..
