News Notes Of Hylton

HYL’CON—Several trom here at-
tended funeral services for J. L.
Patton of Wingate last Wednesday.
Mr. ftatton died Tuesday after-
noon in the Winters Hospital. He
had been ill with a heart ailment
for the past six months and had
been in serious condition for 10
days.
He was bbrn Oct. 1, 1878, in
Scottsvllle, Ky., and came to Tex
as with his parents when he was
two years old. The family settled
in Dallas County.
He later lived in Kaufman, where
he married Miss Whitley Fender
on Sept. 16, 1906. The couple mov-
ed to Runnels County and settled
near Wingate in 1928.
Funeral services were held at the
Wingate Methodist Church, officiat-
ed by the Rev. Pat Brown, former
pastor. Burial was in Wingate
cemetery under directon of Spills
Funeral Home of Winters.
Survivors Include his wife; two
daughters, Mrs. Roy Brooks of
Kyle, Tex.., and Mildred Patton of
Wingate; two sons, Jim and Jack,
both of Wingate; and three grand-
children.
Pallbearers were R. E Hodges.

L. Landers, M. E. Leaman, Dun-
can Hensley and J. F. Guin.

day night.
Mr. and Mrs. Lem Ray of Wylie
spent Wednesday with Mr. and
Mrs. Ed Kinard They were all in

in Sweetwater Wednesday
Mrs. C. E. Waggoner, Mr. Mc-
Pherson and Levi Robertson were
among those attending the sale at
Sweetwater Wednesday . . . Mrs.
Lula Stewart of Blackwell spent
the weekend at her home here. Mr.
and Mrs. Jim Magness and son,
Billy Joe, had lunch with her Sun-
day. Mrs. Stewart is employed in
Blackwell.

An Air Force Sergeant, his wife
and eight-month old daughter from
Abilene were seriously injured
when their car overturned on U. S.
Highway 277 about three miles
south of Hylton Saturday night.
Injured were Wylie Mason, about
30, stationed at Goodfellow Air
Base in San Angelo: his wife, Mary,
about 27, and heir infant daugh-
ter, Linda. All were admitted to
San Angelo hospital.
Three other passengers in the
car—Mrs. J. A. Paul and sons,
Buddy, 10, and John, 17—receiv-
ed lesser Injuries.
Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Hamilton,
Louis Conradt, Mrs. W. L. Wag-
goner and Jack Branham are
among those on the sick list this
week.
Mrs. Bob White of Blackwell
spent Wednesday with her sister,
Mrs. Louis Conradt, and her father,
Jack Branham . . Mr. and Mrs.

Mr. and Mrs. Alton Armstrong
honored their son, Harold Felton,
with a birthday dinner at their
home Sunday. He is 13 years old

Armstrong of Hylton.
Everett McPherson and son,
Truman, of Abernathy spent Mon-
day night with his brother, Ernie
McPherson, and Mr. and Mrs. C.
E. Waggoner.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Waggoner
and Sonny Watts visited Mr. and
Mrs. George Renfro in San An-
gelo. Jack and Sonny attended the
sale there Wednesday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. George Cave
spent Saturday night and Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cave and
Mr and Mrs. M. E. Hunter. Mrs.
Cave went home with them and
stayed Sunday night.
Jack Branham received word
that his daughter, Mrs. Gus Kel-
lis. would be able to leave the hos-
pital Wednesday. Mrs. Kellis had
major surgery in a Phoenix, Ariz.,
hospital some 10 days ago.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gene Conradt
of Fort Worth spent the weekend
with his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Louis Conradt here and her par-
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Raney of Black-
well.

The regular third Sunday night
singing meeting at Pledger has

Jack finished Newman High

leton College before joining the Air
Force in August. 1949.
After basic training at Lackland
A.F. Base in San Antonio he was in
teletype school at Frances E. War-
ren base in Cheyenne, Wyo. He was
stationed at Great Falls. Mont., and
six months ago was sent to Guam
