Favors Issuance
Of School Bonds
The Orange Branch of the Am-
erican Assn, of - University Wo-
men has voted to go on record as
favoring the issuance of bonds in
the amount of $1,500,000 in the
public school election Saturday.
New officers also were, introduc-
ed at the business meeting of the
branch on Friday when Mrs. (Eliz-
abeth Hindman Taylor, of Green-
ville, was guest speaker.

teacher, accompanied the fifth
grade to Barnes Barbecue stand
where a picnic and party ware
held.
Unde Willie’* Club at TV sta-
tion KFDM was visited by the
fourth grade. While in Beaumont
the class also toured a soft drink
plant. They were accompanied by
Mrs. C. L. Rumsey, Mrs. Floyd
Clark, Mrs. J. O. Simmons and
Mrs. Lee Hensley, teacher.
Mrs. B. Oldsbury was hostess to
the third grade at a lawn party,

James Ward, Mrs. J. C. Cooper,
Mrs. L. Sprayberry and Mrs.
C--L. Allen, teacher.
The second grade journeyed
by bus to Orange. City Park for
a picnic and other recreation.

held at Mauriceville- with Mrs.

Recital Scheduled
By Music Class
Mrs. T. L. Sperry will present
her ptano students at a recital
Friday at McDonald Memorial
Baptist Church. The program will
begin at 7:30 p.m. and Mra. Lewis
L. Gay will be the guest soloist.
Both classical and light selec-
tions will be given by the 3ft stu
dents.
Among those to perform will
be Marilyn Kelley, Danny Potter,
Linda Strickland, Myra Waken,

Overnight Trip Set

ORANGEFIELD (Spl) — Boy
Scout Troop 9 of Orangefield met
at the local school and made plans
for an overnight trip to Trout
Creek June 1. Terrell Love, out-
door activity chairman, will ac-
company the boys as will Scout-
master J. W. (Sonny) Ware.
The Wolf Patrol gave a
mg demonstration and the
Patrol, a demonstration on
ing camp fires.
It'was announced that the local
fcovts will attend the scout
en-
campment during / the fifth ses-
sion. The exact date Is not known
yet. Ware invites any boy who
would like to join the troop and
attend camp td contact Charles
Chssson before Thursday and give
him the $1 entry fee.

Robert Hord, district scout re-
presentative, met Thursday night
with the adult scout committee
and made out a charter for the

mon, Kenneth McGill, Lyons GJ1-

Troop 14 Prepares
For Camp Session
Preparations necessary prior to
attending Camp Bill Stark for the
June 3 session ware discussed
Monday by Troop 14. Twenty-
nine scouts expect to participate
in this event.
Thirty-one of the scouts parti-
cipated in the Armed Forces Day
parade on Saturday. They also
visited exhibitions at the Orange
Naval Station. s
Regular meetings for the troop
St the First Baptist Youth Center
will be discontinued until June
11. However, the scoutmasters,
troop committee and all parents
of the scouts will meet on Monday
to discuss all phases of the troop’s
activities including summer camp.
Mothers attending will discuss
plans for itiaing 1900 to sepd four
troop members to the National
Boy Scout Jamboree in 1937. To
date, the mothers have netted 170
with a cake sale.
On Saturday the troop will en-
gage in a previously announced
project of girding and poisoning
of hardwood trees as * part of its
work toward winning the Horna-
day Award in conservation.
Scoutmaster D. A .Benedict has
announced that Richard Duggan
and Alfred Siegmund will be
nominated for a medal on the
basis of their participation and
leadership in conservation proj-
ects. Participation in the parade
on Saturday also fulfills require-
ments for the troop's winning of
the Boy Scout Historic Trails
Award.

preparation and cooking of a
roast Friday at an all-day meet-

Willie Lovilette. Mrs, Dorothy
Marsh, county HD agent, gave
the demonstration. The roast was
served st noon with a variety of
covered dishes prepared by the
members.
Mrs Claude Keys, president,
conducted a short business ses-
sion. Mrs. Gene Pricer was in-
troduced as a new member.

The faculty of West Orange
School was recognized for its
service at an appreciation tea
sponsored by the PTA on Friday.
Arrangements were made by the
executive committee.
Scene of the tea was the school
cafeteria which was specially
decorated for the occasion with
calls lilies and other Howers.
Centerpiece fbr the serving table,
which held a crystal punch serv-
ice, was an arrangement of gladi-
oli.
Serving punch and cookies were
Pat Boudreaux, La Juan Fuller
and Sandra Hubert, ninth grade
home economics students.
The teachers received gifts
from the PTA and Mrs. Frank
Stark, new PTA president, pr*-
