Branding Sheep
The sheep and goat business lias
grown to such proportions in Texas
that ow ners of herds will ask for
some kind of state branding lav/ for
their protection. At present owners
usually paint a brand on the fleece,
but tiiere is always a possibility f
any number of growers using the
same brand. Flocks have become too
valuable to lake any unnecessary
risks or losses.
“Fleecy Flock*"
Speaking of sheep is a reminder
of the catchy slogan adopted by the
shec p and goat raisers of the Ozona
section, the euphonious wording be-1
irig “The land of fleecy flocks." That j
is a logan that is likely to stick and j
m a way to create a good impression J
of the section as a sheep and g at
country.
Big Bend Roads
The commercial secretaries of the
“Big Bend" country are agitating
the building of complete systems oi'
hard-surfaced highways for that sec-
tion. It is the great scenic part ot
tiie state and wouid prove as attrac-
tive to tourists as Colorado if only
it had as good roads. To “agitate”
is all right for u beginning, but ac-
tion is necessary to success in road
construction as in everything eise of
a progressive kind.
