Dear Editor,
As a service to the
community would you pub-
lish names of local recyclers?
I know many people willing
to save glass, cans, and
paper. We have saved these
for several years in three
places each of which
discontinues recycling after
a while.
Since I believe this is an
important aspect of our
survival, I hop you can
uncover some recycling
programs in the area.
(s) Mrs. L.E. Sharp
EDITOR’S NOTE: If any
readers of the TExan know
of churches, schools, civic
organizations, clubs, or
companies which have on-
going recycling programs
for glass, can, and paper,
please call the Texan offices
at 667-9311. To date, the
only program we have
information on is for
recyclable aluminum bever-
age cans. Take your empties
to Houston Beverage Co.,
Inc. at 5410 West Loop
South for reimbursement.

Dear Texans of Bellaire:
We have recently dis-
covered the Bellaire Police
Dept, in the nicest way!!!
On February 22 at 3 p.m.
area residents will have
the opportunity to hear
former Bellaire student
Mayola Martin, already an
accomplished pianist at the
age of 20, perform in concert
at Hamman Hall, on the
campus of Rice University.
The concert is sponsored by
the Girls Musical Club, and
proceeds from tickets sold at
the door will go to the Girls
Musical Club Scholarship
Fund.
Miss Martin is one of the
two talented daughters of
Mr. and Mrs. Edwin K.
Martin, 4522 Birch in
Bellaire. She began
studying piano under Ruth
Burr of Houston, and
graduated from Bellaire
High School three years ago.
She is presently in her third
year at the Juilliard School
MAYOLA MARTIN
They offer a service to all of
us in Bellaire that makes our
homes a safer place.
Whenever we leave on trips,
vacation or business, they
will watch our homes for us.
All you have to do is call and
give them your address and
approximate time you will
be gone. When you return
you are to call them. You
will receive, by mail cards
with the names of officers
who have patrolled your
home and the times.
We are really impressed
that our police want to help
and do!!!
Why not help them help
by calling them the next
time you’re going to be away
from home? It certainly
would make it a lot harder
on “would be" thieves.
Sincerely,
(s) T.O. Buckels Jr.
