The announcement of the first
two plays of Alley Theatre’s Sil-
ver Anniversary Season was an-
nounced by Alley Theatre Pro-
ducer-Director Nina Vance. Ten-
nessee Williams’ play, "Camino
Real,” will open the Theatre’s
25th year on Oct. 21.
“We could think of no better
way to honor both Houston audi-
ences and ourselves on the occas-
ion of our 25th anniversary than
ASSEMBLY SLATES
FASHION SHOW

of the Rainbow Girls are present-
ing a style show featuring clothes
from the Jr. Miss Shop of Bel-
laire, at the Bellaire Recreation
Center.
Many door prizes will be given
away. Donations are $2 per per-
son. Refreshments will be serv-

by producing this difficult, yet,
fascinating masterpiece by Ame-
rica’s greates living dramatist,”
she said.
Modern in every concept, “Ca-
mino Real” breaks the bounds of
conventional staging and creates
a free-flowing, lyric-styled, vi-
vid pageant.
Williams has said, “My desire
was to give auidences my own
sense of something wild and un-
restricted, that ran like water in
the mountains or clouds changing
shape in a gale, or the continually
disolving and t ran sform ing
images of a dream.”
A large cast of nearly fifty
bizarre characters tumble
through a border town peopled
by such historic figures as Don
Quixote and Sancho Panza, Lord
Byron, Kilroy, Casanova and Ca-
mille. The play runs the gamut
from out and out farce to mo-
ments of extreme tenderness and
pathos, from a wild, frenzied
South of the Border fiesta to
cataclysmic violence.
The second play of Alley The-
atre’s six play subscription ser-
ies will be George Feydeau’s
French farce, “A Flea In Her
Ear” which will open Dec, 2.
