Flatonia, a man knocked his wife
in head with a hammer and then
tried to hang himself. Brunner ar-
rived in time to cut the rope and
save him. Call at night, a man
shot himself.
July 12: Trip to Fayetteville

ing. One jailed for disturbing the
peace, he ran off in a truck and
we radioed Columbus and they

vestigate a burglary of a private
residence, on way over there I
ran into a wreck near Helmcamp's
Service Station at Schulenburg,
two cars ruined and two men sent
to Weimar Hospital. On my way
back to La Grange I received a ra-
dio call on another wreck out
where the Winchester road inter-
sects Highway 77—two more cars
were badly wrecked and I brought
one man to the hospital here. One
jailed from Park for disturbing
the peace.
July 15: Had to get a jury and
try a lunacy case and then sent
Charlie to Austin with the patient.
July 17: Trip to Schulenbui'g,
also call to"" Fayetteville after
another lunacy patient, which
makes four we have handled this
month.
July 18: General routine.
July 19: Call to Halsted, two
drunks jailed.
July 20: Call near Ellinger, a
suspicious car. Also call to Kirtley
to. investigate theft of coin from

RECENT BRIDE
Mrs.VTye Y. Hoi man, Jr., was
the recipient of many lovely gifts
at a linen shower given in her hon-
on Friday evening, Aug. 27 at the
Zion Lutheran lv*rish Hall. Mrs.
Phil Holman was the hostess.
Guests were regisfcr(ed from
Weimar, La Grange, Hallettsville
and Schulenburg.
Mrs. W. J. Konecny of this city
and Miss Martha Dusek of Wei-
mar assisted the hostess in serv-
ing tuna salad, ritz, cocoanut
squares, fruit punch and mints.
Appropriate games, with Mrs.
George Matthys, were played,
after which the many lovely gifts
were opened and admired. The
bride's table, which held the gifts,
was centered by a bride doll, sur-
rounded by an arrangement of
white carnation and gladiola, and
flanked by candelabra.
Upon departure, the guests
wished Mrs. Holman the best of
everything in her new adventure.

arrested for Stock Law .violation.
July 24: Call near Weimar to
investigate dogs killing turkeys.
July 25: Trip to Schulenburg
and one drunk jailed.
July 26: One brought in from
Muldoon for investigation.
July 27: Call to Warda to inves-
tigate a disturbance, call to Plum
one drunk jailed. One deputy to
Ammannsville serving seven cita-
tions and I went to Temple and
caught a man wanted here for
hot checks.
July 28: Call to Fayetteville
after another patient for hospital.
July 29: Two calls at night on
prowlers at Riverside, one Depu-
ty to St. John and one jailed from
Muldoon.
July 30: Trip to Dubina to noti-
fy witness. Call to Rutersville,
two run-away boys from Lampa-
sas. Call near Fayetteville, a
stolen car from Houston was
lound stripped of the motor, ra-
diator, battery and everything
they could get loose.
July 31: One deputy to Fay-
etteville to investigate attempted
burglary. One deputy to Warda
with county attorney to investi-
gate disturbance and I went to
Flatonia and on to Smithville for
investigation.
We handled 31 prisoners through
the jail this month and collected
$939.72 in fines and fees for the
County and had several fines laid
out in jail.
