He asserted that the International
arrangements to be concluded must
cover every kind of armament hereto-
fore or hereafter discovered.
"The benefits whioh would be de-
rived by reason of all ths nations liv-
ing under Peaceful conditions as com-
pared with military conflict* are be-
yond calculation," he said. If means
for the firm satabllehment and main-
tenance of peace can be found and
generally aaaented to, It will mark an
epoch of the greateat business pros-
perity as well as the largest measure
of happiness that the world has ever
witnessed. We should be thankful that
tbls conference hse been called.’*
Failure la Unthinkable.
Failure of tha conference, he said,
was unthinkable. An adverse outcome
would be Intolerable and those respon-
sible for it would be repudiated and
everlastingly condemned.
“No claim for personal or individual
advantage not based on ths principles
of right and justice, in the opinion of
the majority, would be entertained," he
added.
He briefly dismissed the suggestion

though they might be large, no sane

er pecuniary Interest as of any im-
portance when dtecueeing national or

Mr. Gary said It seemed to be gen-
erally conoaded tkat bust neat condi-
tions throughout the ceuntry for the
laat six months bed been steadily, If
slowly, growing better. The volume
af business ln the steel Industry had
more than doubled In the last ninety
days, he said, though profits had been
little or nothing, due to high costs and
low prices. Of the country's business
outlook hs said:
Over Meet Critical Parted.
"Even though we have now passed
through the most critical period in our
recovery I still think we would not be
warranted in concluding we have ar-
rived at the point where w* can with
certainty credit the exact time when
there will be a return to a normal fi-
nancial, commercial and Industrial
basis, for the world's economic struc-
ture has been terribly shaken by ad-
verse winds during ths laat few years.
There must be further adjustments.
“The delay ln complete restoration
of a sound and sstlafaotory economic
development and activity in this coun-
try is largely due to high costs—high
costs of living, high costs of produc-
tion and transportation and high costs
of owning and earning money or its
equivalent."

Good Leoke Follow Good Health
Saratoga, Texan—f'A year ago I tried
several different medicines, but kept
getting worse, and felt that I never
would have good health again. 1 be-
seme no poor and weak I could hardly
do my housework. I suffered from
Ions of appetite, headache, constipa-
tion, shortness of breath, also function-
al disturbances. Sometimes I would
have spells of indigestion and weak
sick spells and thought I would die. I
never expected to be well any more.
At last I wrote to Dr. Pierce and he
advised me to take Dr. Pierce’s Fa-
vorite Prescription, Golden Medical
Discovery and Pleaaapt Pellets (sold by
^.druggists) and now I can truthfully
say I am in better health than I have

Within a few minutes after the crash
had torn a huge hole ln the steamer's
hull, all of the members of the crew
